Hi,
I have a 1983 GS(X) 1100ESD which when the lights are switched on the tail/stop warning light comes on the instrument panel. I have so far charged the battery, cleaned the earth leads, changed the fuse box, control relay box, right hand switch gear, changed the bulbs yet it won't go away. I have not tested the wiring circiut with a multimeter to fault check. My only other option is now to pull the bulb which is how it was when I got the bike.
There is lots of evidence of a major electrial fault at some time in it's life and is running with a Honda CB250 reg/rec and alternator. I have found a fault with the earthing around the headlight unit when the bulb fits to the headlight (needs a new headlight unit) yet that doesn't fix it either. I am lost now for idea's as to what it could be.
Can anybody help had this problem?

Huh?

Huh?

You've got a light on the instrument panel that's supposed to light up when you apply the brakes?? :?:

I had to add a ground from the wiring harness side of the rear light assembly plug. I spliced it into the origional wiring to the frame. From what I can tell the brake switches signals go into the control box. Then the box activates the lights and if no current moves it will trigger the warning light. The lights are not directly connected to the lever/pedal.

Hi,
the light on the panel shows when the rear bulbs have failed not when the brake lights have been applied. It only happen when the right hand switch has been selected into either side or full lights. I have changed the relay control box for a new one, the black one under the tank by the indicator signal relay box. I will check the block connectors to see if that makes a difference. I will also look at putting an earth into the wiring loom near the rear block connector. Cheers guys.
