A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Taking a GS1000 to the track, advice needed

I put a functioning used stock stator in my GS1000 with a Honda R/R years ago and 50,000kms later all is still good. I'd say pull the cover and if the stator is not heat damaged swap out the R/R with a series one and be done with it.
I am using the same r/r set up, works well. unplugged my stator/lights and had no issues after the reg/rect fried in the middle of no where. Ive also ran with no stator, starter, lights and a moped battery all to save weight. Ran well over 100 miles of track time. Ignitions dont use much juice. Was well tuned and with 1 friend and slight incline 2nd gear push starts were no problem. On the other hand, every bit of advice about keeping it as simple as possible is THEE best advise one could ever have. Find a lonely road and practice braking, find your limits on the street as there will be more traction available on the track due to better grip. Now your getting me going. There are 2 more local track days available before winter....

Great discussion here...
I'm still slowly gathering parts to build a 2-cylinder gs425 502cc WERA Formula 500 road racer or at least track day bike. I will be doing a Rickman CR900 chassis with GS1000-1105cc stroker engine with CR31 carbs, D-Port head, Yoshi cams, etc but...that much power to a street rider canyon carver hotshot turned novice track rider could be very dangerous at first, so the Formula 500 GS425 will be the priority on the track at first.

The throttle works both ways, you know. I did all my track days on my GSXR1000 and it was no issue. I look forward to seeing pics of both your Rickman GS and the GS425, both will make cool vintage track bikes.

Rijko...so did a trackday on the bike ever materialize in 2017?
Seems the weather over the pond might have held out a month or so after last post.
