Tank Painting Disaster!!

no really good rattle can spray clear or paint that can with stand gas

Two part urethane paint is better than the crap Suzuki used, which doesn't withstand gas too well either.

not true at all!
i spelled gas on my tank 8 hours after it was painted and it wiped right off.
but i didnt use no rattle can! i used 08 gto blue from DuPont and DuPont 1024e master tint for the clear. gave it the bass boat look in the sun...
if it was me i would re sand the hole tank and spay the base then wait 30 min and spray the clear. and no spray will over beat poly urethane paint.
sorry to hear that happen.. i'v been there with the dupla color pant that ready to spray. its junk!

^It doesn't matter how good the paint is...if it's not cured, gas will screw it up.

hahah "perhaps if i type louder" that is f***ing funny as hell... im gonna have to get this tank painted right some day!! it gets better every attempt i try to paint it and i understand how the paint works and stuff it just sucks stripping it down to metal all the time...

mperryz24 that is an AWESOME paint job on that tank.. Massive amounts of jealousy is felt when i see your tank:mad:

i really need a good tip about this one question i have... Where do you guys spray and let your stuff cure? I sprayed outside on the side of my house and almost got away with it but 2 mosquitos landed on my clearcoating process and are now one with my tank!! :D Really the bugs are killing me so if i get a compressor gun i want to know where spray and also where you guys let your tank cure... does leaving it in the sun help it cure faster or does it really ruin the finish? thanks!!

spray

spray

i spray in my friends old shop its dirty and nasty. spray the floor down to help with dust. and kick every one but you out the room. once i spray i let them tack up and move them in side the house to a ventilated room so no bugs get on them. any thing to keep them nice. and a run in the clear is not bad wet sand a re spray or buff.

that could be... I'M ONLY DEF IN REAL LIFE!

TRY STEPPING IN TO THE BIG BOY WORLD AND MIX IT IN A REAL SPRAY GUN.. ITS NOT HARD TO SPRAY IT .. IF I CAN DO IT ANY ONE CAN..
90% PREP 10% SKILL

Clownie!
I've been using spray guns to shoot cars and bikes for twenty years.
For those of us without the required equipment,
IT'S TWO PART URETHANE PAINT IN A SPRAY CAN!
IT'S THE SAME STUFF!

Sorry, I don't paint airplanes, but I have worn the paint off of a few.
What paint shop?
When I redo what?
You will try what my way?
My way is spray guns.
The only thing I will redo is the original Suzuki paint job on my 750.
With one of my smaller spray guns.
Gasoline got to it. Maybe Suzuki should have used airplane paint.
