I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I'm going to give the clear a couple of days to cure before I put the emblems back on. Hopefully they won't put impressions in the clear coat that way. Anyway, I also had to re-spray the clearcoat on two parts of my KZ1000. I figured that you guys might want to see the stablemates together.

Those are really nice looking bikes.

Thanks! I think that the red one needs a different seat to complete the transformation. Obviously, I don't want a stock "L" seat. Got any ideas on stock GS or aftermarket seats that are less cruiser styled? I would hate to have this seat pan recovered. Someone would like this seat, it's in good shape, and it's quite comfortable. It just doesn't fit my vision for the bike.

Man, you know I am new to this Suzuki scene. But that does not look like the seat on my '80 GS750L. Mine has a higher step and the bum pads are not such a saddle shape, has some fancy script on the sides as well as the Suzuki logo.
Wonder if they are both OEM or is yours an aftermarket?

I'm pretty sure that the whole seat is aftermarket. I don't remember seeing any identifying markings. I'll try and check more closely this evening. I don't think that this is a re-cover since the seat pan closely follows the contours of the pad. The stock L seat is more narrow, I think.

I had another look at the seat, and cannot find any identifying markings. It fits just like a stock seat, and even uses the seat lock with the ignition key. I suppose that the PO could have transferred the seat lock to this seat from the original. So will another model GS seat pan fit this frame? I don't really want a stepped seat.

I am just about certain that you have a Corbin seat on it or a very similar take off of one.
It is definitely not an L seat.
As for what other GS seat might fit, I'll check some of my seats on the L frame that I still have for you.
(I have quite a few different ones)

I agree with you about the seat. Thanks a million for checking that out. If worse comes to worse, I'll find an ebay seat with a trashed cover or fabricate my own seat pan. I really don't want to go all the effort to fabricate a pan, and it helps to know what interchanges when searching ebay for deals.

Wow, I love the paint (wish I had the setup to paint at home)

As for your seat, I say go with a cafe style.

"POW"! The bikes are lookin' gooooooood!

...and I just can't imagine Leon saying something like "make it look like a KZ650" ...not Leon! Noooooo...
:)

Ha-ha! :) Great stuff bro'! Keep it comin'!!!

I thought I should post a picture with the badges back on. It really makes the bike look finished IMO. Hopefully I can make some progress in the coming weeks. I'm just about done with the KZ.

Well, I haven't gotten any work in on the GS, but I did get my KZ1000 finished up. It's not directly related to this project, but the fact that it's done will allow me some time to work on the GS. Just got the bike inspected and went for a brief ride today. Feels good to be done, since I have spent just over a year on this one. BTW I did 100% of all fabrication, machine work, mechanical, and body work on this bike.

Nice ride, that thing has style. Really like the tripple pots up front, great looking set up. Are those engine casings original or modified?

The engine is almost completely stock. I did paint the engine cases black to loosely resemble what a 1973 Z1 engine looks like. Originally a 1978 KZ1000 had natural aluminum cases. Outside of that, I swapped the damaged KZ1000 crank for a welded up KZ900 crank. This is slightly better for performance since the 900 crank is quite a bit lighter with the same stroke. Allows the motor to spin up faster. That's the only modification of any sort to the motor right now. I will put a big bore kit, and have head work done in the future when money allows.
