    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I watch motorcycle crash compilations on youtube. Easy way to keep from getting too full of yourself. You can see what other people did or did not do and the results. Something I have noticed is that "most" riders know that they should get away from the bike as much as possible during a crash. Most bikes keep running for a bit after a hit, sliding down the highway at 80mph, or flipping end over end. If the bike has a vacuum petcock or has fuel pump, killing the power would help slow/stop the fuel. Might keep the oil pump from running dry.
Is there a simple reason I'm overthinking why tether kill switches are not used on more street bikes?

Used to see em all the time on snowmobiles.
Its probably not used on bikes because its not mandated and it would scare all the pretty bike buying public.
 
Would make it very hard to scratch your nose or stand up to stretch if attached to clothing instead of your wrist. No reason however why some sort of tip over switch couldn't easily be wired into the bike.

I guess wrists are out. Which one do you wipe your visor with in muddy rain or flip the visor up or in some places you are still required to be able to give hand signals.
Might put an end to anxiety about why certain riders don't wave back.
Standard practice in RIBs is tied to a loop on your leg. That puts track bikes out for sure and offroaders.
In the boat I know it will come around and run me over.
I'd say there is quite a bit of drag and flapping on that spiral thing at bike speeds. Might not be too clever to have the power disappear at the wrong time.
I'd say the numbers involved lead to exemption.
And there goes another half Volt to the coils :)
 
Sometimes, I used to snap my kill switch tether to my leathers to keep my hands free
