A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Thank you soooooo much! And any further advice

I recently aquired an 82 gs650g. .. pretty much stock but not my style... and then I noticed the seat was ripped.... my excuse! So I tore into it to make it more suitable to me long story short I found your site and it has helped greatly in rewiring! Thank you thank you thank you! ... also It had pod filters on it I'm putting uni filters on and a 4-1 exhaust with a superTrapp muffler... I did the coil relay, and I am wondering if there is anyone with a similar setup to give me an educated guess at what jets to start with... thanks in advance thanks to this site I am wrapping this project up in record time... clearn and concise. .. I like it...

"I am wrapping this project up in record time.."

heed Steve's advice, unless you don't care about midrange performance and/or enjoy jetting fun! The stock setup offered good power from idle to redline.

Stock is not an option at this point... thanks steve dynojet kit ordered. .. any other suggestions for speed? I am open to any amount of labor but am hesitant to spend too much on this... I only have about 300 in it now...

Ummm, not quite sure how to tell you this, but in your first post, you said something about the bike being "pretty much stock".

Looking at your picture, that bike is NOWHERE NEAR stock.

And I would seriously consider replacing those rim protectors before rolling it out of your garage.

Lol... this was it a week ago when I got it... the first pic was to reinforce the idea that stock was no longer an option. .. I know... well aware of rocks to the back of the head and water in the face... not my first rodeo

Really? Listen up Jon boy since your skills of observation are waning... does it look like it's done? Did I say I wasn't running fenders? What is your issue? Did I talk shat about you or your bike? Do you have anything worthwhile to add? Or just blowhard opinions not even in the same realm as the original post? Go clean your original painted bolt heads and double check ur Vin for parts matching while u goo ur self watching sweating with the oldies.... in case your sense of perception is waning also... that means **** off

OK... so you can't learn from experience. Good luck with that!

Did i say you intended to run it without fenders? Nope...

I just said that you ruined a good bike, that's all.

Lost your license five times due to points? Real mature, kiddo... That's something to be proud of, alright.

Next, you'll be listing it on CL as a "one-off custom", and asking $5K for it, just like the multitude of hackers there.

Grow up, boy...

I don't have time to explain linguistics and show how the words you use have meaning and they directly implied that I wasn't running fenders at the same time demeaning my intelligence. ... I got this for my buddy to do his riding test on... yes it will be on Craigslist when he is done with it... I'm thinking 3500... I have an unnutered tl streetfighter. .. why would I want a 650 shaft drive? Lol!... I came on here to say thank you and ask for advice on squeezing more power out of it... thanks for turning something nice into the Jon boy pompous opinion hr... keyboard warriors. .. I swear! ... anyway I'm done interacting with you... say what you will ... if anyone wants to stay on topic I'd be more than happy to dial back the vitrol and engage in a constructive conversation. .. thanks... and sorry to all of those here that aren't dirt bags.

A few narrow minded oldsters here. Some people act as if cutting up a 35 year old bike that there were once hundreds, if not thousands of, is akin to putting an inline 6 Chevy motor in a Boss 429 Mustang. Unfortunately, it's something you have to let roll off of you. If I don't like a bike, I won't say squat to the owner.

Welcome to the site. Now you know about some of the people here - and knowing is half the battle. ;)

I think that $3500 is a bit optimistic, though.

Ouch! Never lead with a Thank You seems to be the message.
I'm sure you'll find a buyer as you probably know, it not being your first rodeo.
People will buy anything and if they like the look and get a season out of it that's fine and good luck to them.
Some spend twice that on booze and smokes in a year.

Duly noted! I'm not against criticism, I'm a big boy I can handle honest opinion. .. but at least have a reason or be constructive with your critique. .. no... I won't sell the head for $50... I don't honestly expect 3500 in my hand but that's what I would post it as... why not? 11000 mi, ran good... would appeal to some (wink, wink) ... thanks to this site I have fixed all the inherent issues and completely rewired the whole thing with new wiring and mini fuses... as you stated ride for a season make sure it's right have my fun and off it get my $ and do it again. .. I just picked up a zephyr 550 I'm dreaming up ideas for too... I'm just having fun with them... the more time I spend tinkering the less trouble I get in...

That one is RUINED!

I believe it has potential ! Lots more work though. Complete tear down. Custom metal flake powder coat frame. Custom paint on the tank. Nice digital retro instrument cluster. New set of Bridgestone RWL tires. Engine covers and wheels polished. Custom leather seat. Just to get started....

I commend you just for having the time and money to do it !
