A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

THanks for your help story!

Such a fine site here! Got lucky and picked up a 1980 850G a while back, planned to do a sidecar project with it.IMG_0023.jpg

Once I determined it was a good bike and I felt okay with sidecar, I decided to make some changesIMG_0103.jpg

But eventually I got what I needed to do done and got the project together....IMG_0187.jpg

And I started to get nervous with my timeline about getting it done on time. I had planned to have it done and ready to go with about a month to spare for final details....you know, like driving it around and making sure all the mods and stuff were going to be okay! IMG_0048.jpg

So....that plan kinda went by the wayside and I wound up with about a 2 week window for trials...everything seemed good!IMG_0056.jpg

I did make it there....had fun! No problems except for a drain plug on rear drive that I forgot to tighten down! Lucky for me it was still there and I snugged it up. ( this was to be the only repair to rig for entire trip ) IMG_0092.jpg OOPS! sorry for sideways shot....that's the London Bridge! Just had to drive across it! :o

There was a small gathering of sidecars at Death Valley.....some I had seen before from other gatherings. And one I had not seen! IMG_0106.jpg

Did a day trip around the southern end of valley. Apparently there was good rain/sunshine combo this winter and the wildflowers were just fantastic! DSC_1078.jpg

Then, just as quick as I had got there it was time to leave! A slightly different route was in order for the return trip....DSC_0080.jpg

After a few more hours in the saddle, camp was made and much rest was needed. Now its just a few hours from home...DSC_0132.jpg

The trip was around 1200 miles, got about 29 mpg on the average, paid close to $4 a gallon in California, took back roads as much as possible, average speed was generally around 70, I did have it up just past 85 for a brief few minutes at one point....bike ran like a top, sounded awesome and never skipped a beat! Thanks for posting.

Seems like a successful project.
Project includes Engine work even.

Your passenger seemed to be in trailing vehicle, but that was good for photos.

Yes, so far its been good! Now I have cosmetics/appearance items to play with. I have more paint ideas and one more plan for sidecar. If all goes well, sidecar project will be done soon and rest of paint and appearance will be over the summer. I shall post some pics along the way...

Hi 520Eek,

I just recently picked up a gs1100L to mount a Velorex sidecar to. I'm pretty sure I have my front mounting points picked out. Is there a chance I could get you to post some pics of the rear mounts on your rig? I have a couple ideas, but it's going to take some wrestling to make it happen.

Thanks,
Wolfie
