A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

"That Dude" has been round to my house a few times and we have been fixing it up. (1981 GSX 750, 16Valve)
It had 4 K/N type air filters, so we took them off and put the standard air filter on (NO air filter box, just air/paper filter pushed up against the intake rubber)
It has standard pipes and approx 20K on it.
Here's the problem, we have done plug checks after numerous miles and the plugs are extremely WHITE.
It has 117.5 main jets in the CV carbs.
The adjuster air intake screws have been set and different turns, wheather half a turn out or 3 turns out the plugs are still WHITE.
That is ALL the plugs.................
It runs a bit rough on idle but revs clean thru on opening the gas.
I checked all the tappets which were all within spec.
Any ideas? as he can't ride it too far with white plugs cos it might sieze..
HELP US OUT GUYS..........

The simple choice would be either RE-JET or STOCK AIRBOX and filter, running pods or just putting a paper filter up against the boots is just not going to cut it. It will still be lean, and any riding will just continually mess with the motor.

Well,
I have the stock air box but not the stock air FILTER box in which the filter sits. I've checked every avenue that I know of thus far and have not been able to find one. Would you know where I could find one? Would that help my leaning out problem?

And the pods went out in the trash weeks ago. They suck.

If your box takes a foam cylinder like mine does that is about 5 inches tall, you can use the foam filter replacements from some quads and snowmobiles, they will be tall enough to fit the box bottom to top and go around the plastic keeper.
