A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

what would happen i had a crack, or possible tear in my diaphrams in my carbs? gs1100e

It won't run right. You have a 1980 or newer 1100E with CV (constant velocity) carbs. The way these work is that the more air flow you have, the more the slide raises the needle and effectively increasing the air volume simultainiously. Basically, the carb(s) that have holes in the diaphragm(s) won't be spitting the correct amount of fuel to the engine.

The carb in question would be at increased risk of pregnancy?

It might, does it bog when you slowly pull away and when you take off hard and fast? Or one or the other?

And I'm curious has anyone ever tried to patch a crack or hole in one of the diaphrams? Silicone sealer/adhesive like Goop? Don't need to do it was just wondering. Last time I had to buy diaphrams/slides was for my XS2 Yamaha $22 for the PAIR so that let's you know how long ago it was!

I tore the diaphrams on my 98 GSX limited SeaDoo RAVE system. I used a little monkey super glue (tube patch kit) on the crack until the new one came in. Should work the same on the carbs too, wont last forever but it should get you down the road or across the lake in my case.

if i blip on the trottle fast, it boggs and every once in a while will die.

A bad diaphragm will not allow the carb to accept throttle properly or at all. No adequate vacuum to lift the piston (slide) and thus open the throttle plates. The carb will idle all day. Open the throttle, it bogs or dies. The size of the tear/crack is related to how severe the problem.
If you're deliberately opening the throttle faster than what's normal, the problem may be just that. If normal operation of the throttle gives good results...

not fast like, crazy fast, but like if i role on the throttle to get to around 3 or so fast, then it bogs.

If the bike won't accept throttle above idle either blipping it or trying to pull away, then your problem could be bad diaphragm(s). Look to see if they're installed right and check their condition.
