A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey all,

I have a question for you.

I have a picture here of my bike. Not a perfect bike by ANY STRETCH, but, she's pretty good to me... Runs well, looks decent from a distance (although not so good up close after the dreaded paint/peeling incident last year...)

But, this has been bugging me for awhile now:

Do any of your GS650Ls (or any other variant or size for that matter) have chrome caps that cover the pivot points from the rear suspension? Check out my picture and let me know if they are a figment of my imagination, because i can't recall ever seeing any of these... Although, i'd love to buy a pair if I could find them. I'm not even sure I'd care what condition they were in, so long as I could paint them black and they'd stay in.

Thoughts?

Thanks in-advance.

Hey Wayne,
(Congrats on your Pilot's license btw. I'm an A&P/IA and I enjoy seeing you guys arriving :)). I looked up on the parts website and located these for my 81 GS850GLX, P/N: 61222-45100 Lh & Rh side caps for the swingarm bearings. Not sure if they're chrome, plastic or painted or what, but they may be available for yours as well. Go to www.alpha-sports.com to see what's there for you.
G'luck!

(Edited) My curiosity got the better of me and I went back and looked for myself... Go to this exact page http://alpha-sports.com/spst/1982%20GS650GL/42.htm and take a peek at item #5. It's what you are after.

If like the 82 GS650G that I had: Those are chrome looking plastic. After replacing them more than once, I used a bit of goop or other adhesive/sealant to hold 'em in place longer. But that was a few years ago, dont know of thier avaialbility these days.

Other fun item to replace on those engines are the round caps on the end of the cam covers.

I took a pair of rubber one's from a 82 850G and trimmed them down a little bit. They fit right in and look great.
