Got my $22 mufflers on. I'm working on getting a proper 2 into 1, but wanted to try messing with the stock mufflers. They had rust holes about halfway down so no loss. Chopped them up and welded on some truck muffler tips with lollipop baffles.

Got my adapter from partsnmore. Got a fuel valve from autozone and a 3/8 pipe thread to 5/16 barbed hose. No leaks and no more messing with getting the wrong petcock rebuild kits.

Started the bike for a test ride with the new-ish mufflers. The jetting was good for the uncorked stock ones, but now with the new ones. Things are weird.
More air flow than stock air filter with opened up mufflers was ok, but I wanted to hear the engine.
More air flow than stock air filter with slightly baffled pipes makes it run rich? I did not change the mains from one muffler to the other, but I would think it would run lean.
I'm going to swap to smaller mains to see if that helps. You can kind of see smoke at the end of the last video. It's not like oil. It's more like when someone first discovers vapes and is trying to make alot of smoke. It dissipates faster than oil smoke, but dose not really smell like gas ether.

Got the carbs re-cleaned. Found that the o-ring on one of the idle screws was cut, so I replaced both. Was going to set the tank back on and noticed the gasket on the fuel vale adapter plate was squished out both sides. I think the hole was cut a little too big and I'm sure that I tightened the bolts too much.

Got the fuel valve gasket sorted out. I'm fairly sure I was using bad/ watered down gas. I completely drained the tank carbs and put fresh gas in. Started up and ran fine. A tiny bit of smoke when you blip the throttle, but ALOT less than before. Checked the valves when I had the carbs off and also popped the headers off. Valves are still clean and dry so the seals are good. Still weird...

Why didn't you get a new petcock instead of messing with rebuild kits and fittings and such. I think your homemade fuel valve is pretty bitchin. Lol
Nothing like making your own parts! Awesomness!

I'm wondering if you're getting a little smoke because the new rings aren't scored into the cylinders yet. This is common on cars after a rebuild until it is broken in properly and if breaking in isn't done right, honing and rings need to be done all over again. Motorcycle motors might be different though so omit this until someone with more knowledge chimes in.

Move to Central Florida and ride year round with me! xD

It smoked for a few minutes wile I did the break in. She's got over 300 miles on the new rings now. I swapped mufflers and added jetting, but it was a little too much with bad gas. I currently have a float thats got fuel in one side and sunk.

While looking for a replacement float, I removed the rear wheel. Cleaned and re-greased everything. New chain. The rear sprocket and hub where sold black from old grease and oil.

Ugh what i wouldn't give to have a shorter exhaust. The covered up rear axle is annoying.

Finally got some time to install the new float.
Can you guess which one is from a Bs34 and which one is from a Vm24?
(it's the left one)
Rode around for 30 minutes with no issues. Going to try riding to work in the morning so please wish me luck.

Sooo.....
New spark plugs for todays ride to work. Pulled them out after I got home and they where wet. I'm not sure whats going on as the bike ran great with no issues that I could feel. Thoughts? I'm going to double check the gap. I hope its just an incomplete burn, but I would think it would still pop or sputter or something.

T couldn't get my GS450A to run quite right all summer. Cleaned the carbs, bought a caliper to set float height, new O-rings and intakes, it kept wet fouling on one side. Finally pulled everything apart to start over and found the O-rings around the float needle receiver were leaking. Couldn't adjust that out with jets or pilot screw!!

After another round of cleaning the carbs and flushing the tank and fuel lines. Shes running great.
Had time to install new handlebars and a new clutch cable.
The other bars had no rise to them so the clutch cable had to stay bent a little at a weird angel.
The new bars fix this and also let me set at a more relaxed and upright position.

Here's a pic of how the old wheel bearing looks.
I found the stock speed-o gear on the front hub was sooo dry. No grease or lube of any kind.
Both gears where in great shape so I greased everything and installed the new bearings.
Went for about an hour ride to visit a friend and it was so smooth. No noise or out of the ordinary sounds.
I love the new handlebars. The 4" rise helps me sit more upright and my lower back is loving it.
