A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have no idea, however there are engine shipping specialists.
Redman's been talking about how much oil he burns for years. Just like to get him motivated on fixing that.

Nice to see another restoration thread. You do more and more with every bike I see you do, Chuck. Great work so far. Some of the pictures (painted engine parts) don't show up on my computer, though. Not sure if anyone else is having that problem or not.

I always freshen up the engine although i dont always take pictures. Larry, PM me an email and ill send them to you

Not much to do until the cam chain arrives. Assembled the head Saturday....

Can?t wait to see what it looks like finished. Where would you recommend getting a service manual from? My gs850 has a 12/79 date on the frame. I?d like to do a quality restoration also.

Today was put new seals in the tach cable drive and assemble the engine. Still waiting on rings. Plan is to set the cylinders and then stuff it in the frame. put head on last. By putting the lower in first and the head last i gain room at the front of the frame and have less chance of gouging the frame paint.

Thanks. Tomorrow im gonna start reassembling the chassis and depending on time and how sore my back is i may just set the lower end in the frame...stay tuned.

Today was spent cleaning a ton of bolts and other parts. Then broke down the shocks to clean and polish the parts and the springs. Put the steering stem and forks on, the center stand and side stand bracket, serviced swing arm bearings and hung swing arm, put bars on and ended the day with a roller.

Tomorrows plan is to get the lower end in the frame. And im sure theres plenty more to do. I will do rims one at a time when that time arrives.

I WISH !!!.. My shops set up in a 10X20 storage unit..with electric in it. The Caddy is in the middle section for vehicle storage. Theres a 74 C10 Suburban in there too. Suburbans the one i want more though.

Today I started of with a visit to the dealership to place an order for a bunch of grommets, bolts for headlight bucket, screws for cam end covers, and tires....left 365 bucks lighter. Then i got to gluing foam pads in the battery box, rebuilding rear master cylinder, derusting a ton more hardware, and adding electrical panel and some of the electrics. I also made a ground wire that goes to one of the bolts to the starter selinoid. I have had bad grounding to the selinoid and find that a simple ground wire straight to the battery cures this.

Still have clutch friction discs and the rear half of the back fender awaiting arrival. I have got just about everything except chain and sprockets ordered. I will be waiting till the very last to do the dirtiest part..polishing covers and fork lowers. Good times!!!

There are days when I hate you. I wish I had your patience and work ethic in my old age. Jealousy is an ugly thing to have to live with.

Got enough to buy the HF model so gave it to a buddy. He lifts his Harley Dyna Glide with it..still going strong.
