im just guessing...that IS only 110 ccs bigger than my kaw...but prolly bout 100 pounds heavier.. remember you're banging four right? That kaw was 440ccs on a twin.

Good points. Damn looks like i should ONLY be getting 50 :)

thats pretty damn good...id take 50mpg any day of the week... and you get alot more riding time down there. Man im excited...my intake boot bolts came today, ive thursday and friday off...the weathers supposed to look good, so i may be fired up one of those days...

On my list for those days..

Alternator replacement on my car
Install boots and carbs
synch carbs?
Replace rear caliper
change the oil (which reminds me i need to order a new filter)
swap the top tree clamp for the one i pulled off the 80 and rewire the ignition switch to that one.
Mount those gauges ( i need to order a speedo cable but the tach cable should work and i can judge by that for now)
Wrap the header maybe
maybe finish pounding that tank and start prepping it for my new antique brass and black paint scheme
Ride!
i cant wait to see how those new shocks handle. i gave up on the racing shocks, they're too stiff, didnt feel any different than my rigid set up.

The Swedish battle tank never got its alternator lol. You've been meaning to do that for what like 2 weeks now? lol

Sounds like a good amount of wrenching I envy you. Dude the prospects are looking good for my bike also. My intake o-rings are in so those go in tomorrow. Also gonna finish rebuilding my carbs. Actually I think I'll do that right now. Damn my nocturnal-ness. The engine is clean and ready to go back in. Now I just gotta start doing the small things like bleeding the brakes, putting the electronic back in and all that other jazz. Hopefully it'll be rolling by the weekend. HOPEFULLY. I can't wait though

dude you should already be gettin upwards of 40mpg...not riding is KILLING my wallet...

You're tellin me! I've had my 450 in the garage the past month, and I forgot how much gas was draining my account! I think I was getting somwhere around 50-60mpg?

But I saw this thread and it APPEARS to be your own discussion thread, so I'll jump in! 8-[

Have you seen any pics of cafe-style bikes that can fit the rider AND a passenger? I know it's a sacrilege, but I'm considering a new bike and going cafe. I'm contemplating at least trying a seat-and-a-half, just so I could haul my girl around sometime since she loves riding on bikes. Two SMALL passengers.....

Yeah its called a GS750 with some clubmans on it :P Hehehe just kidding...actually if you kept the straight stock pan and seat from a 750 or same type, you could make a cowling that would cover the two up seat much as some of the newer sport bikes do now. Id find and old tank that you like the shape of the rear of, and cut it to fit...make some tabs for some thumb screws in your frame and fill the cut end up with some foam or something...ive seen it done..cant really say i like the result but you could always give it a shot. ORRRR you could get your fibreglass seat from airtech...leave your frame stock length and mesh some extra pan length to it...just thoughts...me personally?? If my girl is riding, its cos shes got her own bike :P I dont trust people enought to have a pillion

Well I pulled the sprocket off my bike to check it and it turned out it was juat fine so I will be installing that new chain.

And as far as the two person cafe. I'd say why not try it. Maybe you could make a rear cowl that would cover up part of the seat when you don't have another person riding. And remember its your bike do what you want just be sure to take pics so we can see how it goes.

Did you check your back sprocket?? Can be bad too. and more than likely than the front. They seem to wear faster.

That's what I was considering...I decided against a VFR in favor of the GS750, and it had that kind of seat cowl and I thought I could glass up something similar on a GS. We'll see how the sale goes, and then I'll be giving this a shot I guess.

The rear sprocket looks fine too. I really think its the chain because it didn't do it before I lowered it and it doesn't make the noise with out the cover.

what cover? the chain guard??? Get rid of that thing.pshhhh

No the sprocket cover that is something I don't think I can get rid of.

huh...i didnt have a problem and i have a wider sprocket which meant more upward angle on the chain.... im pullin that off btw if you're interested in it. give you alot more low end grunt, but not great for the highway...no money, if you want it just help me swap it :)

I think the problem is more the slack in the chain then the actual angle. I want my bike to be more of a highway cruise so I don't think that will work.

Oi..did you pull your wheel back on the adjusters all the way already?

Cos im not positive but lowering the angle *shouldnt* slack the chain...i didnt have to do crap on mine when i raised it back up..same amount of play as before.

true..that a 630x96? They're a pain to find and they only come in sealed...$$$ may consider converting to a 530...they have conversion kits for it with two new sprockets and the chain...might cost the same as the chain itself. Not many ppl make that 630 anymore.

Actually I already have a new 630 chain. The po had bought one because the chain had to much slack when he got it but never got around to putting it on. So when I bought the bike he gave me the chain.

There ya go!! if ya need some help lemme know...does it have a master link or do you have to pull the damn swingarm out like Steve was sayin?

Its got a master link. It said to cut the chain on there and hook the new chain to the old chain to pull it through. Is this the best way or is there a better way.
