A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

speaking of shims.on the hondas its simple to adjust the valves.
so are all shims for a suzuki the same IE 70's to 90's models?
are they tough to remove and reinstall.gasket is pretty much pooched after removal i assume.if so are they still available at part suppliers?
any thing you can tell me would be great.im going to check them soon.
unfortunatly im finding wires cut everywhere on this bike.i recieved a new manual a couple of weeks ago but i have been busy doing other ****.i started the bike only once.tried again but im afraid im going burn the starter out.i wish it had a kick start.it hadnt been run for over a year maybe more.

Actually, its not that tough of a job at all..and if you're carefull and keep the gasket to the engine side, you prolly can get away with re-using it. im not sure to the 90s but 70s thru 80s are the same...but they arent the same diameter as hondas...KZs and GSs use a 29.5mm shim..everyone else uses a 29mm...if you have a tappet depressor tool its even more cake..but all in all its pretty damn easy..hardest part is the math..lol

Yeah a good walk through would be the one on this thread lol. Just go to some earlier pages. And if you need a visual check out BassCliff's page. He has a pic tutorial. Pretty easy for the most part. You just need new shims if you're clearances are out of wack. Oh and a new gasket if you trash the old one

the good thing about the feelers from Z1 is they are individual and bent on an angle (about 45 to 60 degrees)and cheap i think the whole set is $25.00 or $3.00 each.i have a set they are awsome.

Alright TCK I gots another Yammie question. Sorry you've become my resident Yammie advisor lol

Which yammies come single cylindered?

wow time flies when your reading 15 page posts on why a 750 wont start:shock:

Did the thread go anything like this, "My bike won't start whats wrong with it?" lol. On another forum I used to chill at (it was a kawa forum shh don't tell the others) that's the only question that ever got asked.

So I assume yours isn't starting? Or just learning some knowledge for a future day?

it started after about 5 mins of almost constantly hitting the starter button.i have to take the carbs apart and have a look

I assume you already checked for spark and fuel? And what about the choke?

i added new plugs, new NGK connectors, new wires and caps.
i have lots of spark, fuel flow and the choke seems to be working.but fuel sat in the carbs to long.they are varnished for sure.i added new gas and one third of a can of Seafoam.i have other issues that need to be addressed as well.it was running before it sat for a year or two.

it was running before it sat for a year or two.

Isnt that always the story?? LOL Indeed it sounds like time for a rebuild...There is an excellent rebuild tutorial on the BS carbs in the GSR Garage section if you've never dealt with these before..and considering you have all those pretty Hondas, i dunno if you have. I've also got a fairly clean set....\\:D/

well after a chilly ride today on my 550 i thought screw it.a friend of mine who has a gs 500 and myself took the carbs off my 750.they actually didnt look to bad.some minor varnish.i'm going to let them soak overnight in undiluted Simple Green (an exelent carb cleaner but the way) blow out the remainder with a compressor and put em back together tommorow.the slow jet looked a liitle mucky but everything else was pretty spotless\\:D/
