Im stickin with rattle can on my cafe...i thought about spending the money and makin it pretty, but 700 for a paint job is the exact opposite of race bike on a budget....lol. Plus...if i mess it up with gas (which hopefully Rustoleum will prevent that) its not like i cant sand it a bit and redo it yanno? And you can get rattle can to look really good if you take the steps like you have...wet sand the crap out of it, i go from 400 grit all the way to 2000 and its smoother than a baby's ass. I also found some rustoleum clear...we'll see how that works out... i dunno if its gonna go over well.

Lol I've taken WAY too many steps. I dunno if my experience with the clear was bad on my part or what but the Rusto clear just never sprayed right. I think I'd only ever get one side to lay down right. The rest came out looking and feeling like sh!t so I've given up on that endeavour but I'm still gonna wet sand the balls out of it and then hit it with a nice rubbing compound. I find that 3M Compound works EXTREMELY well and its not that expensive.... And I'm with you on not being able to justify getting the bike a real paint job. Hell the damn thing cost me $400. No sense in hitting it with a paint job that'll cost more than $70 bucks. Frame, tins, and all the little extra's included. Either way it should look good. Tomorrow is gonna be my day of reckoning. Motor'll get stabbed in. Fender and tank will be finished. Carbs will get finished and HOPEFULLY if time allows I'll get to start putting in the wiring (which I'm dreading)

Oh almost forgot... so yeah today I decided to bleed the brakes that way I don't gotta worry about it last minute and well yeah to say the least that was a pain. First off the hose was severly clogged. Plus I overtightened the Banjo bolt so fluid wasn't getting through. Well after I remedied those problems I moved onto the the actual bleeding. At first I was met with an insanely stiff pedal, but it felt like it was giving in. BTW i had clear plastic hose on the bleeder so fluid wouldn't get all over the paint. After a few good pumps I saw what was clogging those lines so bad. Just about the worst case of rust inside a line I had ever seen. It was absolutley disgusting to see what came out of there. I ran an entire bottle through the line to get all that junk out..... Peace of mind. Plus now the rear wheel isn't all binded up like it used to be. It spins freely and the caliper doesn't stick

i still had that problem...ended up tossing the caliper and scavenging the one of the 80...its the same and its in better shape. I rebuilt my master cylinder, so that should be ok...i just hope the iner liner on the brake line hasnt collapsed. I wonder if ive been over tightening my banjo?? I havent slapped that one on it yet so i dunno if thats gonna fix the prob...if its still the MC i have a backup...and yeah mine was ALL full of crap, never seen brake fluid that bad. I bought a GIANT bottle for this next attempt, cos i went thru two little ones last time. Son of a b!tch almost caught fire on me riding to work one day. We'll see what happens. Im pretty sure i have my carb situation sorted out, finally...just got to get them synched...i wish i had my own manometer. I need to buy one, but there are so many other things i have to buy this paycheque i couldnt afford it. Next up on the list tho, besides that, are my seat, Dyna S, (bye bye PITA points) and i gotta do something about turn signals...I use my hand signals but no one seems to remember wtf they mean...lol

Oh i was gonna say too..i was scared to death of the wiring that im about to have to do...i got some OEM switches to wire in, plus the lights for the gauges. But my Clymer has a great wiring diagram in it, and i could even cross reference the 80 switches vs my 77 wiring set up..they are pretty muchthe same, same colour wires and all so it should be easy.

Sh7t i gotta hit the rack bro i gotta be up in 4 hours and have to work 18 hours tomorrow...JOY...OSU vs Mich...GO BUCKS!! O H! I O!

Peace and grease and good luck tomorrow!

LMAO I think us motorcyclists are the only one's that remember. And that's cuz I forget sometimes . I'll be riding without turn signals for the time being until I find ones that don't look like ass... Well brotherman I'm calling it a night. Today was entirely TOO LONG. I'll catch you tomorrow

Just checking in to see what you guys are up to IronRiot you could mount it to your swingarm if that is the only place it is attached, But with that style I would say try and mount it to the frame like it was on a harley. TKC I'm going to have to come over and see how your tank is coming along. Seeing how you can't put any pics on here. What you need to do is go get a cable for your camara you should be able to find one at bestbuy or radioshack.

Dood.... i want to cut my legs off...lol

Ended up being MORE than 18 hours...man we were busy all day and night..and the best part is

My BUCKEYES ARE BIG TEN CHAMPS!

Holy sh!t man. Where did you say you worked?

Im a manager at Rooster's ...its a wing joint like BW3's but way better food. Getting bigger in this region..started out as 1 store in Dayton, now have 3 in the Dayton area with 3 more in the works, 8 in Columbus, 4 going in in Cleveland, 4 more in Cincy/N. Kentucky and they plan to have 100 open by the end of next year.

DUDE I f*cking love wings. When I road trip up there we're hitting that place up. A nice manager's discount should work out nicely lol. So you workin your way up the ranks there or what?.... BTW I quit at AutoZone.

Good Win by OSU and how about MY Spartans taking it to Penn State for a 7-5 season and a potential bowl bid. Also I love BW3 or Buffalo Wild Wings as it is known in Chicago. I love the Blazin wings If I go to Ohio I will have to check out Roosters.

Very nice man...i hate Penn State almost as much as i hate Michigan. It was a decent win for us...I just dont like it when they start playing "Tressel Ball" when they have a good lead...especially against Michigan...i wouldnt have taken a knee on the 5 at the end of the game...pound that ball in there and score another to rub it in. But a wins a win...On to the Rose Bowl..and possibly..JUST possibly a National Championship birth...if some teams lose for us.

Well today was largely uneventful. I got the engine in. And thats about it. Rain ruined most of my day. Damn you mother nature!!!!!

Ick..I'm waiting on frickin parts...bummer. Waiting on my new baffle, oil filter before i really can do anything at all. Pointless to tune the carbs when the new baffle will effect back pressure. Sucks cos i have tomorrow off, its supposed to be sunny but a lil chilly. Ahh well. I may finish up my tank tomorrow.

I ordered my sprocket plus all the other sh!t associated with it. Prices weren't so bad suprisingly so now I'm just waiting on those. They should be arriving at the same time as the box of stuff I'm getting from you...... Oh and on top of that. Well I looked at the fender some more. Like really looked at it and I just wasn't liking it anymore. At first I liked the look but now it bothers me. SO... I think I'm going the way of the cafe \\:D/. Less weight is always good right? lol. So look for the end of the frame to get mo-ched (a word me and my brother invented. it means cut) off. Thinking about a cafe rear fairing or whatever they're called but nah not right now. I'm gonna pound some aluminum and make my own seat pan and have it covered

It lives!

It lives!

Hey guys.
After a week of stripping the carbs down, cleaning and rebuilding (i can only work on them at lunchtime 1/2hr at a time :() I put them on the old over the weekend. Pushed the go button and it went!.
Still have to tighten everything up make sure there are no air leaks.
Throw some new plugs at it and give it a tune up. Should be good as gold!
Took it for a short ride, you know the story tank just sitting there, seat only held on by the lock, no body work, etc etc
Man it was good not to have to push the heavy old thing back into the shed.
Still plenty to do though!
Just managed to get hold of an ultra sonic cleaner for a long term loan so my strip the carbs down again and clean them in it.
Good see you guys are getting heaps done as well.
