TCK that cool that your motor came in. Can't wait to see pics of it. I got my ss bolt kit and oil filters today and ordered the intake o-rings and bolt from robert barr to day to so those should be in here shortly.

SWEET! lil progress for everyone! Im geekin to see this motor. I hope its as nice as it looked in the pics. Either way its going to get the spit and polish before it goes in the bike. I'll prolly get crazy about it and try to get it as nice as Keith's. But that will be REALLY tough as i get impatient...lol Damn weather better be half decent tomorrow. I hope.

BTW I got my caliper today. I won it off of ebay. Its from a GSF or something like that. Very nice condition with a good amount of pad left. Its a two pot like the Kawa calipers that 8track has on his, only its Suzuki. I'm keeping it in the family :-) Good news is that it clears the rim BEAUTIFULLY. More good news is that its gonna grip the rotor with both pistons. Bad news is that the mounting holes are COMPLETELY off. I'm not even gonna screw with making adapters. I'm just gonna take the bracket and drill it for new mounting holes. I just need a drill press lol

I wish i could find some info on rear brakes. I would really like to switch over to something back there a little more modern. Someday i'll prolly end up switching to a Kat front end on my cafe, so i can get new brakes up there that way.

The rear is probably fine. Its about the same size as the front anyways right? And that's because the front handles 70% of the braking. Although if you want something to step up to. I'd suggest the two pot calipers like the one I just got. Wander into my thread about calipers and Tone listed one's that would work. You can buy a caliper meant for the front and then figure a way to mounting it to the rear caliper. A little backwards engineering you dig?

No tools for fabrication...although i could have my buddy mill it up on his CNC mill. Speaking of, i have some info on that. more to come..right now im heading to the house and getting the FVCK out of here...:-D

Fvck barely leaving work? How in the hell do you drive through snow in the middle of the night??????

bah roads are clear now...just gotta watch for black ice here and there...record time..25 minutes...lol

Record time when there's ice on the ground? You're fvcking nuts man lol. As for no fab tools. Do it how the old gearheads used to. Hack saw and files. That's about all I have access to anyways. And if I need to use them I will lol

True...but i dont want to trust my braking to my inferior skills with inferiour tools..lmao I would end up dead with my luck

Lol my luck ain't so good either. But bah. If all the geezers used to do it that way I think I should be fine

I already sent Nessism the money for the intake boots. Now to wait. Pretty cool dude. He's also sending the air box boots. Mine are fine but it helps to have others and not to mention the bike they came off of had only like 900 miles

So you got em all then? Good deal. The ones off the 750 i was talkin about would prolly be in good shape, but there were most likely ALOT more miles on em.

Unfortunately no not all. He only had three. I need one more. Which is why I asked what shape your's where in. But I got one of the right and left that are still ok. Only two of mine cracked in half. So I think I'll try them out and see what happens. Either way with my caliper here and the intake boots coming everything is finally in order. The bike should be completely driveable once those boots come in

Well i shall still take a peek at those off the 750 then..tho i dunno if they will work cos they're off the 16 valver..but they may..they have rubber covers over the boots like yours did, which my 77 didnt have as the manifold sticks off the head rather than recessed into it.

I'm curious, how do the carbs connect to the head if the manifold sticks out? How do they seal? I'm wondering because I want to get rid of these little boots. I hate them

They still have boots. The metal casting is what stick out off the head...here i think i can show ya..

If you can see..where my carbs go that is currently covered with some tin foil, there are boots under there (just like yours with the two bolts, just no outer sleave.) The manifold itself sticks off the head a bit.

Yeah our motors are the same from the outside. Although i can tell your manifolds stick out alot more than mine do. My manifolds are really short. To tell you the truth it puzzles me because the manifolds are so short its amazing that the intake boots even stay on there without coming off

Thats what the bolts are for. Lemme see yours again...i think i remember them being a lil weird..or at least different than mine.
