    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Throttle Assy for Mikuni RS Carbs

Hi guys, I kinda thought all throttle cables were the same, but I found out today that the throttle assy from an 06 GSXR600 has different sized cable ends...the threaded bit on the carburetor end of the cable.

It won't fit my RSs.

Recommendations? The cable from my stock 82 GS throttle threads into the carbs fine...but the grip end of the cables would require some serious modification on those, to fit the GSXR throttle.

When did they go to this larger size on the GSXRs? Which cables/throttle assy should I be looking for, perhaps an earlier carbureted GSXR?
 
Sure fit is to just buy the Mikuni cables from APE that are made for the RS carbs. Around $40 if I remember correctly.

BTW, the Bandit 1200 push/pull cables do not work without modifications also.

Thanks for the response mate - I was much too anxious to wait for more cables, so I just opened up the holes on the carbs to fit the GSXR assy. Strange how that didn't occur to me at first, I guess I was just a little hesitant to start grinding on my brand new $800 carbies, heh. :lol:

Apparently 1998 B12 throttle cables work, according to a poster over at Maximum-Suzuki. Nerxt time I guess I'll just get one of those.
 
When I got mine years ago from Yosh I got a Yosh throttle assembly that had the kill and starter switches built in. It was really reasonable.
 
Hrm, OK, new problem - it won't start. It just turns over and backfires a little.

Is there anything special I should know about these carbs? I've never installed them before, though I have run them. I bought them from Sudco, I was under the impression they were bolt on...

The manual says something about priming the accelerator pump, but it doesn't say how. I can access the rod easily enough, and moved it up and down a few times until it seemed to be moving freely and consistently.

I'm not sure where to start...it ran OK before the carb install, so I guess it has to be the carbs, but where to start with brand new, supposedly pre-jetted carbs?

The plugs are dry...I must have done something wrong during the install...
 
G'Day mate, what are you fitting them to, a GS/GSX? If your bike has the horrible vacuum fuel tap with the dodgy prime position like mine had before I piffed it for a Pingle tap, you'll need to find somewher on the new carbs for a vacuum take off point for the fuel tap, or it won't get any fuel.

Better still, junk that tap and buy a Pingle tap from Z1 Enterprises, I struggled for 6 years with that stupid OEM sucker before I bought my Pingle, and the difference is chalk and cheese! Cheers, Terry.
 
Every time I think I might know what I'm doing...

Erm, I had the coils mixed up. Apparently which coil lead goes to which sparking bolt is important. #-o ](*,)
