DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

would anyone have a good way of shortening a throttle cable.I can cut off the furrel and shorten the sheath no problem but what can i do with the plain end . any ideas

Just buy shorter cables... Not sure what bike you have but for example if you have a 1000E buy the 1000S cables etc. Same works for the clutch.

Dan :)

Just go to a motorcycle repair shop, usually they have a Motion Pro fittings kit to make cable.
I have the same kit at home. Its easier to make a new custom cable than buying a bunch of cables that dont fit well.

How much did you pay? The stock Suzuki cables are about $20 each.

$7 or $8 a cable. This was for a set of Keihin FCR's with a generic quick ratio throttle. The inner cables needed shortened by 3/4 of an inch (outers remained the same though Flanders can do that too).

Stock cables were not going to work.

this is easy. cut it about an inch longer then you need it. then they sell a bolt at bike shops (mountain and road bikes) its got a hole in it and 2 washers and a nut. put the cable through the hole with a washer on each side and tighten it down. whala.

use a torch and solder to attach the peg end to the cable. file it smooth when cool so it will fit in the twist grip recess.

ended up cutting the bracket at the carb and extending the cable clamp, works great

Here is a pic of the kit I have for making cables. It's easy and works great.
This is a versatile kit for many kinds of cables.
Since I bought this kit, i have never had a problem finding cables that fit.
You get your money's worth, thats for sure. No more hassles with cables.
