A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

OK, I've re-crimped mine twice and last time with a hammer so it ever comes out again it's never going back in!

1982 GS1100GL.

Who should I buy from? Local store says only $14 and it's on backorder. I want a quality cable which will not fail again.

Thanks for suggestions.

The new cables are ??? I have replaced mine twice also. Last time i cleaned it very good and applied some silver solder to the cable, twisted the end back on and added more s solder with a torch

From dealer?

From dealer?

Only get Suzuki cables.

Sorry, total newb here.

If I want to buy official Suzuki parts, where is the best place to shop? Online is preferred but I can do it over the phone, too.

Thanks,
-Bob

Ebay listing looks like the read Suzuki cable

ebay listing number 350215143722.

Looks a lot like it would work on my 1982 GS1100GL but not 100% sure.

Anyone confirm? I will ask seller.

Thanks,
-Bob

Or just go to a local Suzuki dealer. I priced mine...$24 for a Suzuki cable

GP Sports on the corner of Union & Camden. Not too far from you Bob.

BTW. My stock tach cable snapped after about 35,000 miles. I guess I got my money's worth. Replaced it with another stock cable. I expect it will do just fine.

I just picked up a motion pro cable for about 14 bucks I think, the quality seems fine, and it runs the tach nice and smooth. Are these any better or worse than the originals? I wish I could give more of a review, but I only have about 10 miles on it.

Great. I'll give them a call today - probably have to order and knowing GP it's twice as much as the Suzuki dealer outside of the bay area... but it will save me some time.

Thanks for the tip!
