    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

The last thing I need to figure out to get my bike on the road is tires. I have no idea what I should be looking for. I don't really what to spend more that $200 for a set. I also need something with good wet traction as the wet season is about to set in.

It's an 83 550E the current tires are Metzlers ME33 120/80-16 front ME99 120/90-18 rear. These tires are old and very hard. I'm not planning on ever riding these tires.

Any suggestions? I guess the better thing would be tires to stay away from

What's your style of riding? Aggressive or mellow? Do you want higher mileage or do you want to be able to drag your pegs in the corners?
 
I forgot to say I'm a total noob. I conpleted my MSF course last weekend and what was the first 20 Miles I've ever ridden. So I don't see any aggressive riding in my near future. As far as mileage goes I'd like to get 5000 miles out of a set.
 
I have been running Dunlop GT501 tires on (3) 82 GS1100GLZ motorcycles. They are Bias Ply as required on our vintage. They have a radial thread pattern and design like new bike tires.
I mostly commute, joy ride in the country and often chase the devil as well.
Wet weather performance is good, the tires are not very hard, grip good even cold. I try to stretch riding season, so when it the weather turns cold, i add Vetter fairing, lowers, trunk and saddle bags. (lot of extra weight).
I put these tires on 06 of 2005, and (1) year and 3 months later have 10,000 miles on them. They are good to finish the the rest of this season, and maybe start the next. I will probably put new tires on before continuous spring riding. I may look and see what new tires are out there. BUT i have no reason not to buy these again, and again.
