DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

For those with a GS550L, which brand/model of tires are you using? How do you like them? The bike I just picked up has some older tires on it and I'm looking to change them to be safe

There are a bazillon tire recommendation threads in the archives so please don't be afraid to search for info.

To get you started...

Avon Roadriders - forum favorite. Sticky and decent durability
Shinko 230 - sticks well, cheap, medium-low durability
Shinko 712 - dirt cheap, medium grip, medium life
Bridgestone S11 - medium grip, medium life

100/90-19 front
120/90-18 rear

I was using Shinko 712s. If you live in CA and agree willing to come to the bay area you can have my L wheels with newish shinkos for cheap :D

Not that the model probably matters that much, but I have a 550L with S11's and they've been OK. I'd probably opt for something a bit stickier next time.

Hi Mr. abefroman,

Please don't ask about oil. ;)

Tires are a very personal decision. You can get something that's really sticky but doesn't last long (performance), or something that lasts a long time but isn't very sticky (touring), or something in between. It depends on the riding you do and the conditions you do it in.

To add to the list that Mr. Nessism started, many high-performance street riders like the Pirelli Sport Demons. Myself, I'm a fan of the Bridgestone Spitfire S-11 tires for their "bang for your buck" value of decent sticky-ness and long life for less $$$.

Now, on with your "mega-welcome". :)
