Should I be oiling my Emgo pods before I install them? I'm trying to get the 80-gs 1100 16v to idle w/pods. If not, It's back to the airbox.

I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.
Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.
Did you jet for the pods? If not, its back to the airbox![]()
Really?? Thanks for the heads up. I will take them to FedEx first, but they usually are more expensive. If they're outrageous, it will go USPS. Those guys will let me ship it sans box..Dude, go USPS or Fedex to Canada, not UPS.
They'll nail you for HUGE fees to go to Canada.
I've had lots of parts shipped to me from the US and I've never had to pay any customs charges when shipped by USPS. My 2 cents.

NO, do not oil your Emgo pods before installing them.Should I be oiling my Emgo pods before I install them?
What are your adjustment screws set at?
IMO the emgo filters are trash.... you get what you pay for. The dont flow well, and they dont filter jack. You're better off buying a set of APE KN knockoffs for $60 than driving yourself crazy with the EMGO trash. I might get chastized here, but untill you get the bike to idle, DONT oil them. If youre jetted correctly, (especially with a DJ kit..you're gonna kick yourself later when you have to figure out why the stock needles dont work and it falls on its face in the midrange) it SHOULD start, and even RUN without ANY filters.. Heck, if you REALLY want pods, I have a set of nice KN i will trade ya for your air box![]()
Back to the original question (which has never been answered )
NO, do not oil your Emgo pods before installing them.
If I remember correctly, you don't oil them after installing them, either.
Emgo is a paper filter that is meant to be used dry. When they get dirty, you throw them away and get new ones.
Or better ones, like K&N.
.
OK, so you addressed it, but I got the impression that you were saying they were supposed to be oiled, but don't do it until he got it idling correctly.I thought i sorta answered that?? Maybe not![]()
The EMGO pods *I* have have NO filter element in them. They are simply screen mesh woven over top of eachother. Which is why they filter NOTHING, and flow like crap.OK, so you addressed it, but I got the impression that you were saying they were supposed to be oiled, but don't do it until he got it idling correctly.
It has been my understanding (maybe incorrect, though) that you don't EVER oil Emgo filters. :-k

emgo's come pre-oiled...
thats how the person that sells them to you gets them to slide in your bung hole so easy!
