    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

follow the instructions exactly and they will get you 90+%..
most people are happy with the results per instructions.
do as they say....

so you ordered a kit for a different model than yours because they don't offer a kit for your bike?

You need some 3mm washers as I recall. You order them from Radio Shack
part 64-3022 if you cant find a supplier locally
 
I ordered the kit made more my particular bike, just that no instructions were included, and there no .pdf file of instructions on the site. I emailed dynojet and they said, quote 'since the kit is so old, i will have to call tech support and ask for them to xerox and fax the instructions.' what year is this, 1982? i'm gonna ask if they can scan and email it. I will share it with all fellow gs650 owners!

I have the same kit on the way for my 82 650Gl, I'd really appreciate having the instructions too. Kinda surprising to hear that they don't send instructions with it.

i only use dynojet brand jet kits and every kit i have ever bought has came with instructions.
i think there is a misunderstanding here.
they just don't send you a box of parts because they know your so smart that instructions are not needed:confused::confused::confused:
 
I hear ya! There's a troubleshooting guide and a parts list, but noting specific to the actual install, i.e. how far to drill, etc. I verified that it is in fact a genuine dynojet kit. So you got me???? You wouldnt happen to have the directions or know someone who does, do you? If not, I'll get them to scan and email a copy.

Hey all! Just got off the phone with dynojet and they will be emailing me the installation guide. He did confirm that they only have it i paper form. Just dont understand why they don't just scan the damn thing as a .pdf and link it to their page! I hope there product is more thought out than their info posted on their website! Once I get it, I will share it with the community! Perhaps BassCliff will throw it on his webpage! Maybe then I can move up in the ranks from Junior Member! HAHAHA

Alright...well, for some reason all they have for the gs650 is the parts list and the recommended baseline for the air mixture and needle settings. I just ended up using the gs750's instructions to do it. IT RUNS PERFECT!!!! So just to sum it up, on my bike, I used the stage 3 dynojet kit, setting the needle at the fourth position from the bottom(bottom meaning the tip of the needle side), air mix at 2 1/8, and the #160 main jets. I used this configuration with the K&N oval pods on it with the 4-1 MAC exhaust.
NOTE: Before drilling out the slide lift hole, I checked with a drill guide to make sure it was a straight down hole...ITS NOT! If you never had done this yourself, I recommend using a drill press and make sure you set the angle at which to drill thru! Other than that, it was a piece of cake! Hope that helps someone out there!

any more i just let the bit follow the hole through.

In other words only one end of the hole needs to be correct.
Its always nice when these things start up and purs like a ****ed off kitty.
 
Thanks guys for all the help! It sure does purrrrr perfectly now! I spent like 20 minutes setting the drill press up so it wouldn't get that egg shape you were talking about...damn perfect if I say so myself! Now just gotta get my bike to the shop for a new seat, and this project is done!!! From tear down to final bolt took about 8 months! Glad Ohio winters last that long!
 
Podfilters on 1980 GS1000 G aussie spec and looking for specific carburator modifications, details to make it run good.
CV carbs on this beaty.
(Airbox is rusted out on the top part where the engine breather enters.)
I have in the past machined (& rejetted) , in a digital lathe, needles (ZX7R) which released hidden clysdales, in this bike.
Would like to make this bike purr nicely.
 
I'd jump about 12~15% in mainjet size, or roughly 18~20% if in combination with a 4-1 exhaust. eg a 100 mainjet becomes a 110 or 115, or 120 is pods & exhaust are modified. Have done this with my GS850 and GSX-1100EF, thats where I'm getting my info from. Won't be spot on but it'll be ridable and you can tune from there.
