    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Where was the toolkit mounted on my 82 850GLZ if it had one??
 
My 80 850G has a Cavity behind the Seat. I think it was Probably There. Long Gone Now.:|
 
Most of the one's I have seen had a tray that fit on top of the battery box, snapped to the frame that held the tool kit
 
The GS850GL factory toolkit (when present...) is in a plastic tray that sits toward the back of the bike from where the battery is, kind of snapped into the frame.

The plastic tray is part #12, no longer available (but might be found junkyarding or on ebay); and #13, the tool kit itself available for around $32 from http://www.bikebandit.com.

With my '83 1100GL, the tool quality isn't hideous, but with my previous '82 650GL, the tools were lower grade. I'm sure some of the tools are missing from my kit...

In the diagram, the tray would snap right in if moved straight down into the frame.
 
Thanks, I had a feeling I was missing some parts. Im going to try to find one of those trays.
 
That tray should also show up at least in GS1100GL's (same frame) and maybe in various other GS750L through GS1100L bikes... Unfortunately, without a parts cross-referencing program or book, an exact answer means a few hours of going through the diagrams on a site like http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm

Yes I do that now. I got a pair of real saddlebags (for a horse) off ebay for $5 bucks. Real raw hide bags- look pretty decent on the GLZ.
I still like the looks of my bike without them- so I dont use them all the time.
