    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Top end oiling issue

i'd start looking hard right now at other engines...
you may find one for as little as a 100 bucks..
just ask the owner the right questions and pull the VC and oil pan and have a look.
walk away from what you have right now,
if you dont you'll always be wondering in the back of your mind when it will happen again.

Larry, If you want another motor to use for parts, or it might even be good to go itself (I have not checked it out) MRiddle has a 80-82 750 motor sitting in my garage that is a spare. He may be willing to get rid of it fairly cheap. I also have a motor, but its more or less suffered the same fate, so I couldnt in good consience sell it, but if you simply WANTED it, i would toss it to you for coming to get it...

Thanks Josh. Not real sure what I want to do yet. But, I'll shoot MRiddle a PM. Brett mentioned that Rob at CRC2 has one too, which would be easier to get my hands on and transport.

I feel like I'm wandering around looking for something I lost......:(

Sucks dude. I feel bad for ya. :( I dunno what Id do if i only had one ride. Well, untill i get these others running again, i do, but there are at least options if something got seriously blown up. Keep your head up bro. If you decide to get another bike, give me a shout this fall/winter. Im slowly coming to the realization that Im going to have to get rid of something at some point, or im not going to be able to store it all...Dunno what that will be yet, but we'll see...

Thanks for the support. Two bikes are always better than one !:)

The wife asked how much it was going to cost to fix. I told her I wasn't really sure yet.

She says. "If it ends up costing too much, just go buy another one."

I love that woman !!:p

Since you have put a lot of time and money into the bike you have, I see no reason to get rid of it. The bike is after all in really good condition. After the shock has worn off, you could take the top end off and see the extent of the damage. At that point you could make a more informed decision.

The L models can be had relatively cheap so getting an entire parts bike or another engine should not be a problem. If it happened on my 750L (I stopped keeping track of how much I've spent on mine), I'd replace it with an 1100 and keep on riding it.
