Here's to next year...\\:D/
Bob T.

I'll second that!!!! I am 10MPH and 0.35 seconds off my goal for the year, but next year will be different!!!

I know what you mean. I always mess up if I haven't rode for a while. I had not been on the bike for about a month and a half and knew I would do some bone headed stuff so I turned everything down for the first pass of the night. I also did not want the thing to buck me if the ignition problem was still their. My neck is still not 100%. It must have been really slow because the guy who setup the track rental came over and asked if I had some major problem and if I was done for the night (I guess they weren't very impressed). They did not want to take my $$ if that was all I was going to do. LOL

I pulled her apart last night. It's not real pretty but better than I expected. The head gasket looks like silly putty (how old are you). It was stretched right into the cam chain galley and out the back of the motor. The engine became a great oil pump sending oil out the exhaust and out the head.

Jay, if you read this, I just wanted to thank your company for making me these wrist pins last year. The last two times I leaned out a motor, the wrist pins fused into the rods and ruined the cranks. These things came out like butter and there were no signs that they or the crank had ever seen any sort of stress. The pistons did not fair so well....

Did alittle test and tune tonight and on the second run I got a 6.09 not too bad so I make about 6 runs and now I'm down to only 1/2 gallon of gas. So I back off the timing to 28 degrees and open the nos bottle and figure what the heck I gotta try it sometime.

So I make a run and when I get the bike in 4th gear I hit the button, I could feel the bike pick up some mph, it was 113.92 so I make another run but this time I hit the button in 3rd and 4th too. Mph was 116.94 this time and et was 6.18 and I called it a night. Next time out I'll hit it in second then work down to a 1st gear hit. That should get me in the 5's at over 120 mph. I was only using a 36 shot of nos \\:D/

That's getting it done. Your doing it the smart way! No need to crank it up the first time out.

I'll be sending you some positive 5 second 120MPH energy from the cold north...

Looks like we are done for the year....
Our Caprice lost oil pressure on the way home from the IHRA Div 5 Bracket Finals and the motor is toast....
Amy has one more race and it looks like she will be racing the Suburban...

As for the bike...unless we travel....we are done for this year....

So.....this is it....come on 2008!!\\:D/

Yep, its almost time for "whats going on in your basement this winter?" Was she racing the Chevy and made it to the finals?

I used to pull my bike with my little Lebaron. Even that little amount of weight made stopping the car a lot of fun.

Jake, I was looking forward to this full spray, 5 second pass!

I may get it out one more time if the weather holds off. This is not the sort of thing you want to see when you pull your head off...

Both the inside ones were going. This is the first time I have ever seen one do this, but I guess its common. A little too lean then, smoke city...

Wow Mark, looks like the head is lifting off the block enough to allow the copper gasket to fold over. Talk about pressure??

Are you using a fiber base gasket

It burnt a ditch in the head and burnt the block between the sleeve and cam chain tunnel it went a 6.20@121mph the pass before

Copper base, o-ringed, moly studs, FBG nuts, all the standard stuff. Took the o-ring with it. When you lean out, there can be some major pressures going on. The head and crank appear fine. Pistons and sleeves, not so good.

Man Larry, I feel for ya. If your like me, you can't let little set backs like this get ya down. Sounds like yours may have detonated. Do you know why it happened yet? Also, my friends seem to blow up a lot of stuff. Heads are no exception. I am always impressed with the work FBG has done on them. They will weld up the head and cut in a whole new combustion chamber and then match the porting.

Did lea'r'n a couple more things from this one. First, my memory is starting to fade from age, booze, other.

Second and more important, the two inside cylinders can run much leaner than the outside ones with higher boost pressures on this particular motor. New rule, Always check every plug to make sure things are not over heating.

This is the plug from where the gasket came apart and the outside one next to it.

I know what happen . Jetted way lean. The engine and turbo was in a car tire dragbike. I could two step it on the line making boost fast .When i put the engine in the street bike it was way rich no boost taking off plus had the waste gate turned down.So i rejetted . Started getting used to ridding the bike so i turned up the boost and forgot about the jetting. two passes later boom. I have put 60-70 passes on the enigine no problems @ 25lb boost

I had the head milled .020 cleaning it up but when i pick it up the two center combustion chambers had cracked from the spark plug holes to the ex. valve seats all four. im looking cheap stock head now. the pistons are fine

I was hoping to put the bike in the 5.90s this year but it will not be back together before the track closes. I have only made 10 passes on this street bike. Ive been a wheelie bar bike rider for 20 years so street tire/ no bars thing is new to me. I did make about 15 passes on a STOCK GSXR 600 last night best pass was a 7.08@ 103mph, not bad for a old man .There was 12 other guys/bikes( 18-25 Years old) there and I was old enough to be there father. Im 45 years young

I would love to see 25 lbs of boost just once before the years up. Your bike must fly!

Larry, I have LOTS of heads! 1100, 1150, & GSXR if you want to run even better! PM me & let me know if I can help you. Ray.

Lecroy the 60-70 passes were made on a pro stock chassis it ran 5.10s@134mph 1.17 60' 1/8 mile
Ray I think i have a head bought not sure i will let you know

Larry, I would have liked to have seen the setup. I weight 730 lbs, 10" tire. So far my best 60' was a 1.27, no spray. Running around 16PSI, I was seeing 5.30s in the 1/8 @ 131-2 MPH. The kicker is I can add more boost, but it comes up pretty slow so I'm not sure it's going to buy me a whole lot on my short times.

I have been struggling with this bike for a while. I have spent quite a bit of time trying to get as much as I could out of my clutch. It now can at least keep a pack for several runs (maybe 15 passes on this last pack and it still looks good). What sort of weight was your setup? Are you spraying to get the short times down? What sort of gearing and launch RPMs? Do you run a 2-3 or full, or just kill? Any details would be great. Thanks.
