  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. Got in 1 time trial and then the rains came. One week of points left and then the bracket finals 2 weeks after that.
 
We were going to go back to Bunker Hill Saturday, but the storm on Thursday knocked that out....

Took Friday and most of Saturday to clean up the damage....
Power just came back on last night....

Next weekend Amy is racing the car, so my next race will be the 2WheelSpeed weekend of Sept 8-9....can't wait.

Hey, your rain stopped! I take it that's with the bar and slick. When people say that they just gained a half second by changing the fuel I laugh. Your 200cc larger and only 0.25 quicker and 4MPH faster with the other motor.

Last year my best was 1.3418 60', 5.6026 130.15 1/8, 8.7029 154.04 1/4.
This year my best was 1.278 60', 5.3262 132.75 1/8, 8.3572 158.57 1/4.

Not that much faster / quicker than you and I have a wider tire, bigger motor and a turbo. We weight about 730. You should be VERY happy with what you have done so far!

We have been getting a lot of rain as well. If it's not raining then the humidity is high and the temps are up. We had a double points race yesterday. The first was cancelled due to rain. The kid took the win and is one point off the lead now.
 
Thanks Mark, with that 5.32 you be the fastest bike around here. We don't see to many turbos around here, but when they do show up everybody watching them. Must be the sound.

The bar and slick are back on and if feels good again. My best 60ft with the 1166 is 1.40 and with the 1395 is 1.32, this winter I'll put the 1395 block on and will see how it runs with the 750 head. I bet she'll crack the 5's then.

I'd did find a Falicon crank with the 750 straight cut gear, only thing left is for me to find a clutch basket with a 750 gear and I put it in next year too.

I may put my 630 chain back on cause I got more sprockets for different gearing. May try a 14-48 and see what happens this weekend.

What rods does it have?

I thought Ryan was using 750 gears until this year. Maybe he can help. You may also be able to have the gear on the crank changed. If the press fit is still good it's not a problem. I'm not sure the price on a new gear now though.

Man, a 1.32 is moving out!

I still hope to crank my bike up before the snow flies. I'm still below 18 PSI. Every time I go I think, this is it. Then I find another problem. I think I'm close now, but I say that all the time.

Starting to think about making a small dyno. I figure it costs me $30 in gasoline and $31 to enter. I see Go Power breaks on eBay every now and then that would hold the power with no problem. The one my friend built can't handle the RPM or the HP otherwise we would have built a fixture for it.
 
I got you beat on gasoline, I just get one gallon of 109 for 9 bucks and can go about 8 run's. 1/8 tracks are easy on the gas buget.

I got 4 cranks now and all of them have the 492 rods, don't know if that's good or bad but never had a issue with the rods except for one bearing going bad. I think I cause it on that crank with 26K's on it trying to start the 1395 motor without retarding the timing ??

That 1.32 is with oem cast wheel's, stock frame and a very heavy GSXR swingarm that about 2 inches longer than a GS one. WB is about 62 inch and if I ever get around to putting that engine into a real chassis I'd be in the high 1.20's and the 5's for sure :lol:

I don't know how you Northern folks can stand the cold for all those months. I spent some time up around lake Erie in the winter and boy did it kick my butt

Man Bill, it's a long trip to take a look at it. Then it's a 1000. Everything we work on is based on the GS1100 or the GPZ.

That's $30 just to get me to and from Martin. It's about one and a half hour drive one way for me to run. If I head south it's still about an hour drive. They don't want my dog there so I go north instead.

I burn about a gallon for 4 passes. The C16 costs about $12.70 / gallon. I was getting the Mach118NOS for around $8 but bad results from it.

I don't even think you can buy the 492 rods now. Everything I have done we put the 493 Kat rods in. They seem to hold up well to the pounding I give them. Ever notice that everyone who races GS's (and is going fast) collects cranks?

Plan to put my old basket and Falicon crank that came out of my race engine into the street bike. It should last forever in there and give me a virgin crank to work with. I will have a virgin basket too that I have no need for. If you need another stock one at some point just let me know.

My other motor is still sitting in parts. I wish now that I had not put any of it together. I keep finding things that need to be changed.

The Sportster has got to go then, you need a classic Suzuki dragbike with lots of credentials to fill that area vacated by the Sporty\\:D/ ,,,,,This bike would be a great find for someone that has a love for the old Suz 2 valve motor....It was built by myself and I can provide every detail....5.20s/30s in the 1/8 at over 130 on an old school almost antique is nothing to scoff about


Just wish someone from this forum would get it back on the track ....Then you will know why the track announcer called me BadBillyB.....It was the bike, my riding sucked........BadBillyB
 
I don't think it's going to stay at 100 for very long. A fellow GS'er is checking on one for me and I should hear back soon.

I did bid $150 on another Slingshot head and I won. I was the only bidder and it comes with cams, boots, valve cover and bolts. If the cams turn out to be 350's that's even better. I thought for sure someone else would bid more cause that's just my luck, always seems one person is always out bidding me. But I guess somedays it's my turn to get lucky.

My plan is to build a second motor. Put the straight cut crank, 750 head and 1395 block together. This should make a nice combo and I think I'll need something bigger than a 7 inch slick??

I'm not so sure about the need to change the tire size just yet. The kids bike is running the same rear tire as yours. It gets changed once or twice a season running 8.80s. We normally change it before it's due so we have time to get a new one broke in without screwing with the points races.

I am willing to bet that if we turn his bike all the way up at the end of the season it will run very low 8's. We have a couple of points races left then we will see.

IMO, for slower bikes like this (9 seconds) the 7" tire is perfect for E/T. You don't have the added weight of a car rim and tire and I would say it 60's just as constant as a wide tire anyway. Both our points leaders are on 7" tires.


I'm with you on that second engine idea. This is the only way to go. Mine still is not together. I keep finding problems with my other motor so no point setting the spare until I get something that works.
 
Your idea of a Harley transplant just gave me a place to put that second engine.

If you put your Harley engine in the GS frame you may need the car tire to support the added weight of all that iron.

It's not a real track story, but its drag racing at its best. I really did get my old Harley out today. I haven't started it in about 3 years. Went for a ride to see some friends. One friends wife got one of those Honda rebels. Well we started talking some s hit and before you knew it, we decided to drag the 1000cc sportster against the 250cc rebel. The rebel did pretty good against the harley until I shifted into 2nd. Then I made it eat my dust.

We decided the Honda needed a jump start so I gave him 3 bike lengths. Had a hard time catching the little bugger. Once I got into 3rd I flew around it.

I am not sure what this proved other than that grown men act like little kids at times. Yes we did have the wifes approval before racing her new bike.

Only got a handfull of runs tonight due to a big shootout race this weekend. He had more rail dragster's than I had finger's and toe's, even had a jet car make a few runs too.

Got down to a 6.18 and 111.61 tonight, don't know what I'm doing but I like it.
 
I did race one of those rails during time trials so we both left together and his run was... 60ft 1.10, 330ft 3.17, 1/8 4.93 at 139.32

Lets just say by the 60ft line he had a 20 foot lead so i just watch him all the way down the track.

I just order a new slick so maybe I can find another 2.78 mph real soon........... that would be awesome.
