A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Trip Meter Odometer Repair - 83 1100E -

I lucked into a set of 83 gauges to go on my 82 1100e .. the faux skunk... so now I can now go 140 mph.:cheerful:

Anyway, the trip meter doesnt work on it. Neither does the set that was on my 82, or the set on my friends 82, or on the spare 82 set I bought off of ebay.

Is there a repair out there for these obviously defective trip meters?

I think they just get dirty. The gauges come all apart. Take a few pictures so you remember how to get it back together.

The trip rest is a button with a spring in the front face portion of the housing. There is a lever on the Speedo that pushes some gears to do the reset.

Thanks Posplayr,

Well I think I may have lucked out. I went ahead and installed the gauges, and the trip meter did re-set to zero's this time.

I will have to ride it when we get some good weather to see if it ends up working right. Fingers crossed about that and especially whether or not the speedo works as it should. The tachometer is a little stuck until i rev it the first time, then it bounces up and works as it should.
