A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Today in keeping with the Governors orders I stayed in and sheltered in place
Wisconsin is on lock down until late April thanks to the Covid 19 pandemic ..

Last fall I decided I was GOING to change to the Truck Light headlamp in spring.

So Spring is here and the truck-lite needed installation so I journeyed into the garage .

It took a little longer than I first anticipated ; mostly because my tools were in lockdown too (winter)
And then some cleaning happened , and then tinkering ..and finally the lite install..

Of course I then needed to install the battery which has been in the basement on the tender all winter -
It was mid October when storage season began here with first snow on Halloween..so a LONG winter ...

I didn't film the start efforts -- but here is is 30 seconds after popping to life ...

I guess the lights are bright but you are not charging with 12.8V at 3KPM

Yes - I noticed -- that is why the video stays on that part for so long ---

Hey Carl,
Yah, there is some light there.

One of these ? ?

You get any higher voltage at , say, 4 or 5thous rpm ....?

I spent a few minutes investigating this weird reading ---

I don't know why it was like that --
I suspect a few reasons --
1) I had the battery tender plugged in to the bike ... :concern:
2) I had spent a few minutes cranking it to get it going (first start since October) and the battery was 'tired'
Hence the tender plugged in
3) A loose connection was found at the battery negative (tightened attachment screw)

This morning I tied again with better results --- ;)

When it drops to 13.9 I have all the lights on --- Brights and lower driving lights

14.1 at idle is fine with me

YES - The TruckLite 27270C
A near perfect fit into my housing -
As chance would have it - STEVE changed my GL typical housing to the required 7" version several years ago -
It was done when he helped me by having me over to his home for a weekend and we (he mostly) redid all the gaskets from the Base up
And then the carbs - and the valves and more than I can even remember --
he likely does not remember doing it either -- it was an incredible weekend and I think I got more sleep than he did -- which was precious little -
Also last fall he sent me a replacement bucket in case I needed it -- (I have to send it back to him) -

I found it on eBay for $144 dollars delivered ;)
