A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • This forum is for placing reviews for parts, accessories, gear and service as it relates to your GS motorcycle. The key here is "GS Related". There is a bit of latitude here but we don't want to see a review on Maytag washers just because that's what you use to clean your riding jacket in.

Keep your review as factual as possible and please refrain from personal attacks. Posted articles will be reviewed by the Editors and may be removed at their discretion.

So let's make this a useful addition to the forum! A special pat on the back goes to Hap Call for coming up with this great idea.

The views expressed in this forum are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of "The GSResources" or the editors.

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I recently sent out the front disks on my 1979 GS850 to TrueDisk to have them resurfaced to remove the old grooves and to have them cross-drilled. I contacted Tom Tokarz via the Truedisk website and he was helpful throughout the process. The disks were removed, labelled for which side of the wheel they came off, packaged in a USPS flat-rate shipping box with a lot of packing material to keep them from moving inside the box. I also wrapped up the box with tape to prevent any damage. They were shipped to Tom, and a few days later they were returned and look great. The resurfacing cost $45 per disk, and the cross-drilling cost $25 per disk. With shipping and handling, the total came to about $160 for both. www.truedisk.net

Before. Removed, cleaned and re-painted.

After resurfacing and cross-drilling.

The guy does nice work and is real easy to work with.

Looks good; I would have thought the cross drilling would be more than resurfacing.

Now that's what brake rotor should look like. Did you do the rear rotor as well? A 168 holes for $50...dang i would call that a hell'va good price.

Turned out nice, didn't they? You know, I wasn't going to bother doing the rear disk as the front does most of the stopping, but now the front disks are done and on the bike...........well, maybe I will! I haven't got to the back end of the bike yet, so I still have to dismantle all that, rebuild the brakes, etc. I think when I do (probably over the winter or next spring), I may just get the rear disk done too. $70-80 for that level of work is not too shabby!

It is a good deal. Help the guy out and mail in your rotors! I know I'm going to cave in and get the rear rotor done too!
