    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

TSCU bypass 1979 GS850

Hi All,

I have a bad 1st generation TSCU in my 1979 GS850. Not wanting to spend a fortune on a new one I'm interested in bypassing it and going to manual signals. I did a search and came across a post from cal look zero where he mentioned that he unplugged the 6 pin plug, cut the wires for the 4 pin plug, added female connections and hooked up to two relays with success. Self cancel won't work (never has) so that's not a problem. His post had two pictures about how to hook it up unfortunately the pictures are no longer there :(. I've PM'd him but have not heard back yet. Would love to know if others have done this or other methods to bypass the TSCU and I'm also looking for what relays to buy and which wires go where (electrical newbie). Any help is tremendously appreciated. Thanks, Leo
 
Not sure which wires do what on your 850, but Basscliff's site probably has a wiring diagram that should help. Ray
 
Thanks rustybronco - will be buying my parts and trying the bypass out - looking forward to having turn signals again.
 
PM Steve (sedelen) and ask if he has an 'almost' fully working TSCU he'd be willing to part with. Can't hurt to ask.
 
Success!! Removed the bad 1st generation TSCU, cut the wires to access them for the new flashers. Taped off the now unused 6 wires and used the four wires from the 4 prong plug for the flashers. Attached female connectors to them. On my 1979 GS850 the light green/black wire and the black/blue wire were the supplies which I hooked up to the X prong of the new flashers (one for each side). The green wire and the black wire were the load and attached to the L prongs of the new flashers. Then needed to remove the turn signal switch in order to make it not self-center by removing the spring in the metal piece (not the one in the plastic piece). Cleaned all connections and turn signals work great! Thanks for steering me to the correct thread rustybronco and also to one cal zero whose post had the specific info. This site is great, I gladly made a site support contribution in appreciation. Thank you all.
