    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Tying all 3 legs of stator to ground

Do I need to do any thing to the wires running to and from the light switch after doing this? Or do they become dead weight?....

I think you should go get a fire extenguisher and another stator. You can connect the three stator wires directly to the regulator/rectifier, but not to ground.

Where did this idea originate?

Yeah I meant reg/rec not ground! :lol: :lol: :lol: I just wanted to know if I should do something with the headlight circuit after bypassing it?

The third leg of the charging circuit is switched ON or OFF by the headlight switch. (on bikes that have one)

If your bike is not equipped with the headlight switch, the only thing you will gain is losing a couple of feet of wire and a connector.

I bought the optional switch for my GS1100GK that has the light switch. I disconnected the part of the switch that turns off the third leg when the headlight is off and connected it directly to the Reg/Rect and have had no trouble with the charging system.

Does your cousin use jumper cables connected directly to the battery to remove the stator over???? :lol:

Man when he wraps them cables around that stator cover, you better not be standing in front of it cause it just shoots across the room man, I tell you what :lol: :lol: :lol: :wink: .
 
On bikes without a switch the 3rd wire goes all the way to a plug in the headlight bucket. On the other side of the plug there's wire that connects the stator pin to another pin in the plug and it goes all the way back to the regulator! So, the two wires sticking out are actually both ends of a single wire. =D> I got a good laugh out of that when I was looking through the wiring diagram.

IT COULD EVEN REPLACE THE YAMMAHA V BOOST :lol:
