DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So,

My "new" GS750 has a few oil leaks. And so today, I decided to find out exactly where they are. So I take some engine degreaser and clean the engine as well as I can, cranked it up, and let it run for about 10 minutes. The first leak I saw was on the oil filter cover. No problem, I can fix that. The next one I saw was on the seal around the oil pan. Once again, I can handle it.

But then I saw oil dripping from the far left-hand exhaust pipe, off of that flower-looking manifold that exits from the head. Sorry to call it a flower-looking manifold, but I don't know what it's actually called yet. My manual's in the mail.

In addition, the far right-hand exhaust pipe was releasing a little smoke from the same place.

I talked to my dad, and he said, "Sounds like your going to have to take the head off, bore out the cylinders, replace the piston, rods, and piston rings, because it sounds like you have bad rings on your pistons and oil is blowing by and being burned." My response, "Oh, sh*t."

Now, I haven't taken the plugs out yet to check them for sogginess, but I haven't seen ANY blue smoke coming out of the pipes.

But the engine did misfire a couple times. *shakes head*

So, can someone please tell me what I need to worry about, because I am now officially worried.

If you were burning oil in your cylinders you would be smoking out your exhaust pipe and have oil residue on your spark plugs.

you sure you dot have a valve cover leak from above the "flower"?

Oil Oil everwhere!!

Oil Oil everwhere!!

Relax...If it was leaking from "The head" it would be streaming down below the exaust...trace up that particular pipe & I think you'll find it coming from the valve-cover gasket area.
Perhaps ten minutes of running is too much time...this time, clean it up & run it just until you see the source...remember oil travels downhill so start from where you see it & go up from there.
