A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Ummm Help? (I know very specific)

iphone? wow! Your adventure continues.... take TKent02's offer up- he might spot something you have overlooked in your haste. Pack an extra quart of oil, just in case. I quess you should explain your mission in the story section. Good luck and have fun safely!

Yeah this morning I went back to the filter cover with a clear not angry head and took the acorn nuts off and rotated them and even doing that did the trick, I then used the toolkit wrench to tighten them rather than a ratchet to make sure I didn't overtighten them. I have the drip down to a drop every minute or so but I think that's due to needing a new O ring on the cover. Since covering the vacuum line it no longer smokes and idles evenly and seems generally happy so yay for that. One thing I want to make sure of though is if I have a brain fart and forget to turn the petcock off immediately how long do I have before I get into trouble? Oh and yeah all my correspondence on here as well as taking pictures and verifying the "Where do these hoses go?" pictures have been done on my iPhone, I love this thing, essentially a mini lap top which i can now slip into my tank bag and have turn by turn directions when needed :-D

If petcock is left in prime position, it's up to the each carbs float needle valves to stop fuel flow into fuel bowls- any one ( or all 4) could leak. Normally they don't ( though they might weep a bit ), so don't worry. But it's a good idea to move petcock to on or res position when you're stopped for a while.Stop for an hour, don't worry- overnight shut off! I'm glad the bike seems happy again. My daughter had to have the iphone, so she had to pick up At+t plan all by her lonesome.

Off topic yes but just FYI my AT+T plan runs about 100 a month and gives me 450 anytime minutes and unlimited texting and 2 gigs worth of data usage. So I've been running the bike and it's definitely happier, gonna try and change the O ring out of the filter cover ASAP but other than that it seems a lot better. Meanwhile... if you have any questions concerning iPhone goodyness :-p. I'll try and start posting the story of trip and all that shortly I suppose. :-D Thanks for all the help

Hi Mr. Cronos,

Do you need a three-lobe O-ring for your oil filter cover? I have extras. PM me an address and I'll drop one in the mail for you.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

I genuinely appreciate it but it'll be at least a week or so until I even know where i'm going to be. I know I'm hitting Denver for parts and possible assistance but beyond that I'm kinda drifting without a set direction until I hit San Diego. Mayhaps when I get closer to that destination I would be happy to take you up on your offer :D

So I'm on the road at a truck stop, done about 160 miles or so. Slightly concerned because unless I'm mistaken it seems as though I'm only getting about 30 mpg at the moment... There is a 20-30 mile headwind and I am running full saddlebag plus two bags but would that drop my
Mpg that much? I'll check in the next couple fuel stops. Oh and I am on the highway, keeping with traffic and limit is 70 mph. Don't know exact spied cause speedo died on me.

Hi,

A loaded bike, into a headwind, traveling at 5000+ rpm freeway speeds, my bike goes from 40+ mpg to less than 35 mpg.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Yeah, what Basscliff said! You're a big plow. Besides the gas tank on this model is TOO small- don't worry about mileage, just get to Denver.

80 miles to go :) bike still feels strong, when I reach Denver I'll pull the Plugs etc and see how things look etc.
