    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I am looking to change my XS650 16 in. rear wheel for 17 in. to be able to run DP tires, like Pirelli scorpions on it. This is the only option I have locally in Guatemala that is affordable. About $100.

How wide do these come? I'm looking to find a set of 17" rims I can lace to GS hubs in a 2.25 front and 3" or 3.5" rear... Doing that with the companies I can find here would cost quite a pretty penny...

I am doing a copy paste on the info in the link on the sizes avail. What I can find here is 17 X 3.5, do you think this will fit the xs swingarm? How do I determine that and how big a tire would that accept? The current size is 130 90 16. and Have about .5 clearance on each side.

17"x3.5" wow! That's exactly what I need. I'm on my phone so I can't see the site all that well, but these are full rims ready to lace or do they come laced?
As far as checking for what will fit, you have to determine, with a 3.5" wide rim you can probably go up to a 140-150. If a 130 works now, see how much clearance there is now, and see if you can get another 10 or so mm on each side, safely, and then you have to take into account if you have a brake torque arm it will have to be changed to allow for the wider tire too. Of your XS is drum in back you may have an easier time....
 
Let me know what you think, they seem good quality to me, but then again, I can only tell surface deep. On the tire size, from what size to what size can I go on a 3.5? 120 to 150? Or is it too wide for 120? Yes it is a drum brake. I am also concerned by the fact that the drum is massive, and that the angle of the spokes won't be right.
There is also a 3.00 inch one, but is suposed to be for the front. Is there a difference, between front and rear rims?
