A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi again all,

I was planning to leave tommorow on a trip , as i fixed up my bike relatively speaking but I'm having one last probelm

The bike, starts and idles fine, and the choke seems to work well, but when I ride, and twist the throttle, the rpms stay up even though i release the handlegrip.

I checked the choke and throttle cable free play, and its within the 1-2mm spec, and it seems to snap back just fine.

I'm thinking the problem might be witht the throttle plates on the carbs??

any help would be very much appreciated.
thanks.

Lean

Lean

It sounds as though it's running very lean....check your plugs...I'll bet they'll be ashen and white. If so, adjust your air screws so that your plugs look tan and your RPMs will be absolutely perfect.....I'll bet that's it.

I'm not so sure.

It was running fine before i changed my head and basegaskets, and I havent done anything to the carbs besides take them off, and put them on.

It seems as if there is a little extra space with the throttle valves, but i guess they're supposed to be like that?? I didnt touch them , so i dont see how it would change anything.

Hmmmm

Hmmmm

If you had some slight air leaks that were corrected by taking the carbs off and putting them back on, that might account for the difference....but that does seem like a stretch. Still, I'd check the condition of the plugs and go from there. That would certainly be the place to start.:-D

i had forgotten to tighten the air-filter boots both times. think this would do it?

im thinking maybe, b/c it allows it to draw in a lot more air.

(i had just tightened the box on, and not the clamps to see if it ran at all, and forgot:oops: )

Possible

Possible

Yes, that's possible but it seems to me that it would be unlikely to make a huge difference unless it was quite loose. Tighten 'her up and see what happens. Something's making your bike run lean and, hopefully, that was it.!\\:D/
