DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So, I purchased a GS650GLD back in June. I live in Guatemala, Central America and found this bike for about USD$1000. It runs well, and has no noticeable leaks. One of the previous owners chopped off the OEM mufflers, and I have been following this thread for weeks now. But shipping and exhaust system to this country is EXPENSIVE. Somehow, I manage to track a brand new right side OEM, and just yesterday I found the left side at another place. My question is: Do I go the OEM way or do I find a way to ship a V&H to me. I think I can get the OEM set for about USD$250. What do you all think.

The OEM is much heavier. That's the bad thing about them.

But they are so much quieter and last so much longer that I'd stick with the OEM. Then, if you have the stock airbox, you can stick with stock jetting and have a smooth running bike with no troubles (hopefully).

Plus, noise can get you into trouble that a quiet bike won't. That is, unless you actually believe that 'loud pipes save lives!'...

I know that I've skated on a number of what would have otherwise been speeding tickets only because i ride quiet bikes with OEM pipes!

But I'd try to haggle down the price on those OEM ones. It's not as though a bunch of guys are banging down the doors to buy stock 650 mufflers. At that price, they must be NOS (new old stock, meaning that they have never been on a bike). If it doesn't matter so much to you that they are brand new, you can probably find nice used OEM ones either here or on fleabay (or at a cycle salvage near you?) for a LOT less than $250.

I have been looking for the used set, unfortunately, I live in a 3rd world country and people here drive things down to death and then replace parts with makeshift, half cooked adaptations.

The reality is I found pipes on a 700 that looked very bad and the owner wanted 150USD, then I found a set that came of a 650, very rusted and the guy wanted 100 USD.

I guess The NOS sounds good at this point. The other choice is to pick up a pair of HD mufflers.

Plan A: NOS set for 250USD
Plan B: USED OEM for about 120USD but in bad shape
Plan C: HD mufflers for 20USD and Adaptation costs.
Plan D: IMPORT V&H 350USD plus shipping of about 200USD.

A and C seem the best options. One saves money the other RESTORES the bike. What to do???

I will probably go for C. Soon as I get a hold of the guy that has them...

I can vouch for that, I jumped on it in second up to about 70, only to look ahead and see a cop sitting in a parking lot down the road. I backed off her, eased the rear brake and by the time he looked over at me I was back to legal speeds...phew. Quiet was a good thing that day.

MOTODAD not working anymore

Please post a new code when one becomes avaliable.
