A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I received my sync gauges and am having a bit of difficulty reaching the adjuster for carb #3 . The other two I can get at but since #3 is directly below the cable and holder for the throttle, it is so far impossible to loosen the lock nut so I can adjust the screw.
Has anybody got a solution for this?
Also ,I got one of my newest 83 850 GS carbs done and back on the bike.It fired up immediately and runs great, I will check the sync on it once I remove the gauges from the GL.
Thanks in advance

OK, since #3 is the master carb, that adjuster is actually the one for #2 (and, subsequently, #1).

I have found two ways to reach the locknut.
1. Remove the bracket from #3 carb that holds the throttle and "choke" cables. Since you are only doing this at idle speed and warm enough to not need "choke", they are not a problem. you can now reach down with a socket on an extension to loosen the nut.
2. With the engine OFF, rotate the throttle so the adjuster is pointing back at about a 45-degree angle, reach between the carbs with a socket on a long extension and loosen the nut.

Both of these methods are even easier if you have the Motion Pro Carb Adjuster Tool. :encouragement:

Thanks for the quick response. That all makes sense and I have thought about getting the tool as I have 3 of these bikes and it would be handy to have. I hope to get time this weekend to try this out.
Thanks again

"Quick response"??? It took an hour.

On some threads, this forum moves fast enough to have a dozen responses in that first hour. :-\\\

I bought that motion pro tool a few years ago. One of the handiest things I've got.
