A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey everyone I'm just trying do my first valve lash and need some help on ordering the right shims. Its an 82 gs650 if anyone can help me figure out the correct shims that would be great. I saw the lash is suppose to be between .02 and .08 for all of them. Also ware is a good place to order the shims from?

Thanks,
Taylor

Exhaust measurement: 02, .02, .02, .02
current shim size: 2.75,2.65,2.65,2.70

Intake measurement: 09, .08, .08, .08
current shim size: 2.70, 2.65, 2.65, 2.65

leave the intakes as they are. they will be fine.
for the exhausts.......put the 2.7 where the 2.75 is
one of the 2.65's where the 2.7 was
then get 2 x 2.6's to put where the 2.65's were.
that will give you 0.07 gap for all 4 valves
that way you only have to obtain 2 new shims.

Z1 Enterprises is a good place to get shims. May as well plan ahead and order some shims smaller than present so you have what you need next time.

Thanks I have another quick question do you know wear a good place to order new float needles and seats from I have heard the ebay ones are a big no no but every ware else their stupid expensive like they are made of gold.

Z1 enterprizes, the same place Nessism recommended for the shims

Ok also ran into another problem last night I set the bike to TDC and pulled the chain tensioner to rebuild it because its leaking oil and I have checked several sites to try and find the seals for it but I can't find them. I checked z1, suzuki blvd, and ebay with no luck. Also z1 didn't halve the needle valve and seat how ever this place does it just worries me though bc its a hell of a lot cheeper and doesn't look like the same part but it says it fits. http://www.partsnmore.com/parts/suzuki/gs650/?filters[category]=carb&filters[fitting]=custom

Thanks yeah I looked at a lot of that stuff when I signed up. Been learking and working on my bike for awhile but have not posted much. I already used the guild to rebuild my breaks, master cylinders, carbs, and sort out some of my electrical issues.
