I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Does anyone know the specific tappet nut (8, 9 or 10 mm?) and adjuster screw (3 or 4 mm square or straight) size for a '84 GS750 16 valve?

I am looking at purchasing the wrench set similar to that in the referenced web site.
http://www.motocrossgiant.com/Motion_Pro_Tappet_Adjustment_Wrench_Set_p/08-0073.htm

What to confirm if it will work for my GS (have yet to take valve cover off to confirm sizes). Looks like wrench set should cover pretty much any combination.

Thanks,

VUR

I have never had the 'pleasure' of adjusting valves on a 16-valve motor, but from what I have gathered here on the board, you will need an 8mm combination wrench to loosen the locknut. For the square adjuster, many are using a square-drive drywall-type screw that is inserted into a wood dowel. Much cheaper, just as effective, even if it isn't quite as pretty sitting in the tool box. 8-[

Never thought of using a Robinson screw head. What a great idea!

Thanks,

Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I used a 9mm line wrench on the lock nuts. 8mm doesn't fit (just double checked).

Also, if you're lazy or cheap (or both), I just grabbed the little square things with my fingers and turned them.

This was on an 81 GS750 BTW.

I don't know the sizes offhand but believe the 9mm hex and 4mm square are correct. I own the Motion Pro set and it does include the correct sizes. It makes valve adjustment much easier than any other method I've tried. Motion Pro also makes some feeler gauges specifically designed for valve adjustment. They also make the job easier.

Thanks,
Joe
