Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I have a brand new Vance and Hines 4 into 1 exhaust for my 1982 gsx1100ez. The problem I am having is that the mid pipe and muffler are the same diameter making it impossible for the two to slip together. Is this a common problem with these? does anyone have a solution that will not damage the exhaust? Thanks in advance

I am in New Zealand I have tried the number but can't get through. I have also emailed them and had no response.

Can you take it to a muffler shop and get them to reduce it on the former?

There should be no reason for any modifications. Either you're doing something wrong or there's a defective part. How about posting some pictures of what you're describing.

Hi, how can I be doing something wrong? both diameters are the same preventing a slip fit

I just took a look at the V&H on my 1100EZ. The header goes inside the mid pipe, the mid pipe goes inside the muffler.

It's the V&H "Street Megaphone" model.

If the megaphone doesn't fit into the front pipe portion then there is faulty design. It should be a two-piece that slides right into one another. I had no issues with mine. Give the company you got them from a call...maybe they mis-matched them...but that just doesn't sound right.

Mine looks like a three piece.

To put it differently than I did before, the muffler goes over the mid pipe, the the mid pipe goes over the header.

Different angle...

In this photo, the mid pipe appears welded to the header. It does not actually appear that way in person.

In any case, muffler is larger diameter than mid pipe, mid pipe is larger diameter than header.

Here is what I did. I took the exhaust to an exhaust specialist To get the muffler to fit they flared the muffler tube 2mm to get a tight friction fit. now the exhaust is bolted up and ready for action. This should not have to be on a new exhaust that is supposed to fit together

You are correct slinger, it should have just slipped together without issue. Glad you got it fixed! Rob, your exhaust is TWO pieces! You have the header, which is all welded together, & the megaphone assembly, which is all welded together. You can call it a 3 piece if you count the baffle.
Ray.
