A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Vance and Hines Logo--> Glue?

The logo on my brand new pipe fell off. What should I use to glue it back into place? Can I use Gorilla glue or something to that effect?

I would think that would melt away in no time. How'd it fall off? Seems mine is riveted on, if I remember correctly.

It came like that in the box. The glue (looks like glue gun material) was smeared all over the muffler. :(

Sorry about that. The pic in your signature makes it look like the Yosh pipes on my GPZ.

It's cool. I'll take that as a compliment. :-D

I'd thought of JB Weld, too, but was concerned about it's thermal properties. Perhaps that would be a good, cheap alternative. It's available just about anywhere.

JB weld is sort of brittle. The vibration on the muffler makes me a little weary. I hot glue gunned it in place tonight. After it is running I will inspect it and see how it hold up. If it makes me nervous, I may have to start looking for a high temp flexible solution such as the silicon mentioned above.

I've seen JB weld hold up on an engine quite nicely and for a while too.

But the vibration would worry me too.

I had the same problem with my V & H. I used a high temp adhesive by 3M and had issues with in one or two rides. Took the dremel out to clean the surfaces up and went back with JB weld. Two months and a couple hundred miles later and it hasn't budged or shown issues at all.

Is it just me, or on that website are they patching a brakepad!

That's definitely a brake pad. Funny thing is, when viewing the data sheet, they claim that it's just a machine part. True in theory, bad in practice. I'd never do that in the name of safety.

high temp epoxy only. don't use a glue gun. this is akin to using drywall screws to hold your carbs together :-D

search "high temp epoxy". only use a 2 part adhesive for this application.

I emailed Vance and Hines. Here's what they replied:

All you need is some high temp silicone sealant. Smear some evenly on the back and put it on. You can get this through your local auto parts store.

Now to get some denatured alcohol to get the glue off my muffler :(

V&H should send you a tube of silicone. Brand new pipe.
What the heck's wrong with them?:?
