    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

No my wife did not shoot me for working too long in the garage. I spilled an entire can of Berrymans. Misery loves company so I thought I'd post.

I was sanding my float bowls with an orbital sander on the workbench and it vibrated off. DERRR!!!

Fortunately this was the last carb. It was clean and I didn't loose any parts. Although I'm sure this isn't how you are supposed to dispose of Berrymans.

Use rubber gloves and get as much air moving in there as you can...thats some nasty caustic crap on your skin, the sinuses and the lungs...youve been warned!!!!
 
If you start getting a headache and/or nausiated, then get some help. Not fooling around here. That stuff soaks into the skin and is BAD NEWS..read the entire precautions on the can bro!!!
 
No problems Chuck. I read up on it before I started using it. The garage door was open and I have a ceiling fan running at full speed right above the spill.

Got it diluted and mopped up quickly using rubber gloves. Still made me a little light headed, but we're good to go now. I was worried about it causing fumes in the house, but it went away pretty quickly.
 
I always post the cautions...it made me sick so bad once i thought i was gonna hurl my stomach clean out and the headache was the worst ever. I dont touch anything with a bare hand after that episode.

Glad that you post that stuff up. It's why I read up on it before using.
 
Maybe you strain it back into the can through a cloth to remove the big dirt, and reuse it, if it didn't all soak into what youre using to clean it up. Whatever you do, watch how you store the rags, due to the flammability of that stuff.
 
Don't pay the Berryman! Don't even fix a price! Seriously I use Gunk. I've heard people say it's not as 'good' as Berryman's but I've always gotten great results with it. I don't think it's quite as narsty as Berryman's, and you leave the stuff in it overnight, or at least for a few hours but the results are squeaky clean. I've never had any problem with residue either, just spray everything with gumout and blow it all out.

Everything that got wet went straight in the trash can outside. Kept the fan on it all night with the garage door cracked and we're golden.
 
I have a horror story for you About Safety cleans carb dip just like the Berrymans chem dip. In fact the Safety Clean carb cleaner is the only cleaner that smells, and works just like the Chem Dip. It has been over 20 years ago, I was good buddies with the local safety clean guy. He would sell me the "dirty" carb cleaner he picked up. Actually most of it only had a few carbs dipped in it. I had about 40 gallons of it in a 55 gallon drum, and dipped a lot of carbs, and other parts. I had the mother load shawn dawn dip tank. One of my shop employees was jacking a car up right in front of the tank, and some how the jack stand popped out, with tremendous force. It punched a hole in the 55 gallon drum when the drum was hit by the jack stand. It was a summer day in Texas, and it was hot, the fumes were off the scale. A nightmare followed, I was able to save all but about 10 gallons of it, I got the rest into a 55 gallon drum, one hell of a day. I moved it out of the open shop area and into my engine building area. It gave me a new healthy respect for this awesome smelly cleaner.
 
Even the spray carb cleaner gives me terrible headaches that night after using it. The canned stuff is off the chart, I never bring it inside the garage. I use both outside & store them in the shed

We wash our hands with diesel at the junkyard.
They have a parts sink, rigged to a recycling pump.

It works well, but c'mon...you can't afford a couple bucks to spend on soap? lol
