A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

My breather box is warped on the carb side, bowing in and causing my boots to slip off at the bottom. Im sure with some tinkering I could get them back on but Im wondering if the misshapen box will put stress on the boots and cause them to crack/come apart. I want to permanently fix em so I wont have to fight em again. What do you guys think???? Thanx in advance!!

i'd get a new airbox, or worst comes to worst rejet and use pods. gs's are touchy on airflow, it's probably best just to find another solid airbox.

81 GS550

Mine's a PITA as well. It's all screwed up, but with just the right fanagling, whenever it wants to line up and work, it will.

Unless yours is just super-megahosed, you can probably get by until you find a replacement.

its not too bad, but it is sunkin in. Im sure I could get by with it. Does anyone know where I can get a new one at the best price. Thats really the determining factor, cost.(I have 5 kids!) Also, Ive taken off my end caps and it apears to be solid plastic behinde them so why seal em? I have a 1980 gs750L and I hear of leaky boxes all the time, is the 80 750 different? I dont think it has a filter in the box like the pics of an 850 box Ive seen. Obviously Im a new GS owner so Im kinda fishin for info, lol?

Yup the box is sealed on the ends. Ive got no prob there. Got the boots to hook up, went for a ride and the popping I had when cruising is gone. sweeeeet! Still, Ide like to find a brand new one at a good price so Itll line up right. any aftermarket suggestions?

How about heating it up with a torch or in an oven to the threshhold
below the melting point to reshape it. Watch for fumes !! Outdoor
BBQ grill ??

Or cut it up in half, reshape the box, and install multiple clasps to
seal the halves. If all else fails, get a used box on this site by placing
an ad in the "used parts" section.

Good luck !! :-D\\:D/

.

A quick check shows It is no longer available new, Ebay is your best bet. Or try to reshape it with a hair dryer

Hair dryer? You must have one hot hair dryer to be able to mold plastic with it!! careful you dont catch your head on fire! J/K lol, I think Ill pick up a heat gun and try that. Thanks for the help All you guys!
