    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

WaterBuffalo Ignition Question

I live in Ottawa, Canada.
The local dealer has a WaterBuffalo (I don't know the year) sitting over to one side of the shop.
He is restoring it for a serious rider and collectior of bikes...

The ignition on the bike has been modified (?) and he is not sure where to go from here.

Does anyone know how similar the WaterBuffalo ignition is to the GS ignition?
Firing order, interchangeable parts?

I rode at GT550, which I think had similar ignition to the GT750 water buffalo. It had breaker points. Breaker points were only used in the first years of GS motorcycles. So I'm guessing that there are substantial differences between the GT750 and later GSes. The early GSes might be similar to the GTs.

I don't think any ignition parts are interchangable between GT and GS bikes. For one thing, the GT 550 and 750's were three cylinder engines and thus had to have three sets of points on the breaker plate and three coils. Plus there was some sort of nylon gear involved in the breaker cam to give it the proper reduction (because the engines were two strokes). This gear was easy to break if one wasn't careful with a wrench. I do think Dyna makes an electronic ignition kit for the GT bikes though.

Water Buff had points (3 sets) as stated. There was a brand of point-free ignition that was quite good,...Newtronic (Nutronic) made in UK. Just went belly up but was bought up & theoretically new owner has committed to improving quality & getting line going again. Right now only dealers'distributors who had some in stock might carry. Get hooked up on the SMOKERIDERs chat group. One of the members, Shayne in Australia, can possibly help you & supply info,

I'm a little late but.... when in doubt go with the "RED". And something on the sweeter side such as " White Zinfandel". WTH... why they call it white is beyond me..... must have named it after drinking for awhile. :-D :-D I like this wine for get togethers because even folks whom don't typically consume very often can mix this with alittle 7-@P and it makes a great low "a-hole content" (that's alcohol....) drink.

Party on!!!!!! with a desiginated MC driver of course!!!! No alcohol related GS forum member fatalities need to end up here.... Please????:( :(

Big roast beef dinner for 12 hearty guests? Portuguese reds would go very well, big strong ones. And a bottle or two of California Zinfandel (not "White Zin", blecchh..) Wrap up with some vintage port, fine bourbons and scotches after the meal. Then spend a few hours relaxing. YUM!
