Well, after having to let the bike sit for the better part of 3 months due to parts, time and weather, I got to ride last night.....for a little bit LOL.
Anyway, there were three of us on motorcycles, we were on an access road about 10 miles outside the city limits, at about 10:30PM. We were cruising along at roughly 50-60 MPH when my buddy spots a friggin refrigerator box in the middle of the road. He motions that he is going left of it, I motion to my buddy behind me to go left, I was going to go to the right of it. BY this time we were down to about 35-40 MPH. Well about 3 foot before I am clear of it..........a nice little gust of wind sends the giant cardboard box sliding into my path. As soon as I hit it it stopped the front wheel which sent me sliding into the ditch. It felt like someone had me by my feet and just took and threw me on the ground. I obviously bounced about 3 foot back into the air and began tumbling. I either landed on my feet or I jumped up really fast after stopping...I am not sure which. I ran back and picked the bike up and turned the fuel off. By this time my friends had gotten turned around and came back to where I was. I checked myself and upon first evaluation I busted my knee pretty good. So I check the bike to make sure it is rideable, she fired right up and I rode it back home to access the damage on both me and the bike.
I lucked out on the bike, the box softened the fall and basically acted like a sled. The handlebars are tweaked slightly, broken mirror, broken left rear turn signal, and a slightly bent case saver.
Me on the other hand......
Nice swollen/bruised left foot.
Road rashed/swollen/bruised/stiff left knee.
Slightly rashed/swollen/bruised left forearm.
Very sore/stiff left shoulder.
Very stiff/sore neck.
Slight headache.
I had my helmet, a big carhart coat, leather gloves, jeans, and leather work boots. The correct gear definatly makes a huge difference. Without the helmet I probably would have been in the hospital, without the carhart and gloves, I would not have had much skin left on my left arm, shoulder, or hands, and without the jeans and boots I would not have had much skin on my legs and possibly a broken foot.
Anyway, the parts to fix the bike are already on their way, so as soon as I heal up, I can get the bike back together and get back to riding....again LOL.

Glad to hear you weren't hurt too bad, but to be safe you may want to have yourself checked out. Heal quickly!!:-D
