A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

What carb do I have?

After rebuilding the petcock today, I'm taking a close look at the carbs. I'm guessing they are add on since there is a choke and cable on the handlebar, that is not connected to the carbs. there is a choke lever on the left side. Mic is on the left side of the carb, and Mikuni Kogyo is on the right. when looking down at the carbs from the riding position, there is a small nipple on the 2nd carb from the left, a large nipple ( where the gas line is now ) in the center, and another small nipple on the 4th carb from the left. which line do I connect to the diaphram side of the petcock?

A little hard to tell but those look like VM29's. Worth a pretty penny unless I'm seeing things. If the drain plug looks like these those are VM29's.

Oh, and I don't think these carbs have a vacuum line nipple. The two outer hoses are vent lines.

Thanks Nessism, I looked underneath and they do have that drain plug.
so, how do I get my newly rebuilt petcock to work with these carbs?

How about buying a thread in vacuum port nipple, similar to those used for performing a sync job? Screw it into one of the threaded sync ports in the cylinder head.

If you have 29's then you'd need to set the petcock to prime position. Turn it off when parked.

Thats the way it was set up when I bought it.
it would only give the carbs gas on the prime side. set it in the main side and it would starve at least two of them. and of course leak gas into the engine. will it make a difference since I have rebuilt the petock?

If you have a vacuum petcock, then without vacuum, it will only pass fuel in prime position.

So Keith, when you say turn it off when parked, do you mean set it on the on position?

To avoid the possibility of fuel passing through when the motor is off you need to move the lever to off position. If the petcock is operating as designed then the on position would also not allow fuel to pass in the absence of vacuum.
But I would use off position. No chance of fuel passing through even if the petcock diaphragm fails to seal (in your case/running non-vacuum carbs).

There is not an off position on this petcock.
it has On, Reserve and Prime. so in this case, on should serve as an off position, once I seal up the vacuum side, correct?
