I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

what did you wrench on today??

Took the BMW forks back apart to shorten the spacer...
I didn't like the sag I had with the new springs...

Which springs, Bob? :-s How long are the spacers?

I'm looking into a set of Progressives for the front of the 850. Want to make sure I'm not throwing money down a fork tube...

Straightened the tail piece on the GS1000 by replacing the bolts and washers and lining it up right. Boy was it annoying me when it looked crooked.

Played with valve clearances and Steve's wonderful spreadsheet.

Didn't work on anything today but I have something to have to do after riding this afternoon. My 25 year old clutch cable finally gave up the ghost so I had to ride the last 4 or 5 miles home clutchless. Time to order a cable.

The progressives are money well spent. I put them in my 850 a year ago. The only thing I would change is to use a longer spacer. I used a 1 3/4" spacer. When I change the fork oil next time I will go with a 2" or 2 1/4" spacer. They improve the ride and the handling.

finished my LED taillight

Got a set of linear springs from Sonic Springs...not the same as progressives...
bwringer used a set in his 850 with good results... Thread here

The BMW is a different animal the way the forks go together...and the Sonic springs needed a little work to go in.
I shorted the spacer another 1/4" to get to the 30-35mm sag that sonic recommends.

I have progressives in my 1100E and they are very nice compared to stock...

Just replaced my carb intake boots and fixed the PO's botched job with some new o-rings. The PO used some sort of silicone to seal the intake boots to the head so I can only imagine how many leaks there were.

Rebuilt the carbs a few weeks ago so tonight Im going to vac sync them but for right now.....TIME TO RIDE!!

I spent all day yesterday at the VA, so today I'm doing the finishing work on putting my truck back together. I put the injection pump in Monday afternoon and evening, checked all the lines for tightness today, made sure all the electrical connections were good, put on the intake manifold, doing the plenum and starter next, then it's time for testing and bleeding of the lines.

just me afew boxes of aluminum foil, a gallon of vinegar and the slightly rusty exhaust.

Replaced the right spark plug cap, did lots more voltage measuring around the harness, but still no spark, and still no closer to working out where I'm losing 2 volts. I shall persevere...

What did I wrench on today? Nothing, nothing for the last 4 months. Man I hate winter, and why I bought a house w/o a heated garage is beyond me!

Sorry, had to vent...

Waiting in boxes for my '78:

New cables (tach, speedo, clutch)
New engine emblems to go w/the coming polishing session
Points and condensors
New cover gaskets for the few that are missing and or need replacing (really PO? )
All new exhaust gaskets (all 6... )
Oil and filter change

And more.

And we are to expect another 2-5" of snow here. Crap.

Took all the plastics and gas tank off the bike and brought them to the body shop. Those 12mm bolts on the front fender are a B!@#H to get off without a ratcheting wrench!

Received the Galfer brake lines in the mail today as well. I think I'm going to buy the DIY kit for the rear line and see how it goes.

2-22:
FINALY got motivated and put the bike's airbox back on, did some twiddling, and put her back onna road
