If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

As my GS Wes Cooley shafty resto is nearing it's end I have restarted on this project building a TR3 out of a RD350A

Been sitting waiting to be completed for a few years:oops:

Put gas in the sled,Anticipating snow, put screws in the foot rails,my feet slipped off a few times.Carb clean and leakdown test on the blaster, cleaned wiring connections on the blaster.Brake lines on the Van and pulled the 65 Impala onto the lift for body work prepping.Going to the Shinedown show.

Installed the pistons on the 73 TX 750 project and got the jugs back on. Then I swapped some like new sprockets from my (someday) 78 1000 project onto the 77 750 so i got me a good LICENSES AND INSURED driver again.

Spent some more time with the '80 XL. pulled carb and did some more paint work. Should be ready for clear next week.

Mate I love the colour!

Thanks Pete. Red metal flake. Looks more burgundy than red in the sun light. Gold flake really jumps out when in better light. Hope to have pictures after clear coat in a week or so. :)

Cool Whitedog!

Put in fresh oil, new oil filter and plugs into the 450.
Also bled front brakes (which went really quickly - not like I struggled with the black one last year!).

I decided to jump the starter from the car (as the electrics still need to be done) to let the motor swing and see if there any leaks somewhere. And only the starter swung.

So....I will have to pull stator cover off to check the starter is slotted in where it needs to be. :(

I didn't wrench on anything today... But I did take the 450 for a test ride after Friday night's needle work and she's like a whole new bike!

No hesitation just off idle, I can U turn safely and tight slow corners don't kill my confidence any more. No stumbling or flat spots at part throttle. I can open the throttle and wind it out and she just wants to go. I'm so stoked!

I'm uploading a video of the test ride at the moment and it'll be added over in the Did you go for a ride today? thread shortly...

Yeehaa!!!

Nice! I did my 450 in a Honda red pearl colour that's sort of similar, and looking at the black outlines on your white lines makes me wonder if I shouldn't have done that with my white stripes... bit late now but something to consider for next time!

Could be you need to check the starter clutch Wally, make sure it's all there and operating as normal. You've got the stator cover off already so should be an easy check :)

Don't forget you'll lose a little oil doing that too...

Welded up a new battery box for the Brat Project.....unfortunately spent more time fixing a pesky MIG welder than building the box...feed damn you.. FEED!:D

I leaned the bike over, took stator cover off and the gears were all in the correct positions and even turned over by hand!

Hooked up the jumper cables again (with the cover off) and all the gears were spinning, except the magneto and not the motor.

Changed the connection of the jumper leads around and hey presto! :o

I had the - on the starter and + on the frame. I thought it was wrong, but it gave no reaction yesterday with the + on the starter.

Anywayyyyy... :p

Good that you found problem with the starter clutch.

You did say that you hooked the jumper cables backwards directly to the starter motor. If you had hooked the jumper cables backwards to the battery you will need to check and see if charging system still works, and if ignition system still works.

.

Thanx Redman. Luckily battery is out along with all the wiring - I got it that way.

Prepping it to go to electrical specialist to rewire this week.

Didn't wrench on anything, today, but I spent a few hours in the cave sweeping, tidying ....and watching a few races that happened in Australia this weekend...

Just under 20mm's off the length of the slide springs.

The other highly recommended action is to increase the diameter of the hole in the slide.

I figure I can get new springs, but a new slide... well... not so easy so I'll leave that one for the moment.

Also, the dual socket USB charger I bought the other week died, and I got some awesome customer service from the guys I bought it from (www.thirdgear.com.au) and they express posted me a replacement yesterday before I'd even sent the faulty one back, and they refunded me the postage for sending the faulty one back.

New one installed and working:

What's up with the corrosion on that left mirror support? Want I should mail you some paint? :p

Hahaha that's the clutch perch I painted with that horrible 3M caliper paint I tried... the front caliper looks the same! Won't be using that again...

I'd re-paint it except I really don't want it off the road long enough to do so... I can live with it for the moment :)

When I get my Kat, I will have time to go back and touch those little details up ;)
