A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

what did you wrench on today??

Got a new rear mc in the mail yesterday. Defective cap rubber. It leaks. Strike 1.

Been waiting 5 days anxiously for new intake boot clamps to arrive.....called the company to check on my order after work only to realize I never ordered them....only thought I did. Strike 2.

Got home from work today and had a 76 Kawasaki 750 twin sitting in my garage. Told the boss I would go over the carbs/ air intake system and get it running better. I guess him dropping it off was my cue.
That's not a win or lose.....it just a thing to work on when I get to it. Pretty cool bike. Decent shape.

Charmayne was having a really rough day today coping with her memory issues so after work I drug her away from the house and over to the garage. While there we cleaned up the cam chain tensioner replacing the seals and gasket then mounted it back onto her bike. Took these two pictures:

I was pretty happy to see that she was able to cheer up for a little bit and I was able to help jog a couple of memories for her.

It was also nice to see she won't just lay in bed moping; sort of reminiscent of this picture a couple of years ago:

Speedo cable broke while enjoying an evening ride; so I visited Blue and swapped the cable.

Messed around half the day getting a failed Kreme liner out of this sad 1100E tank.

Finished up round 2 on the Blue 83 1100e. Cleaned up the harness, put in a SH775 RR and coil relay mod, valve adjustment, better used clutch hub and new chrome moly nut. Was going to check the compression but my 14mm gauge won't fit the spark plug hole. Synced carbs as well. Raining today, no road test but that nasty rumble from the clutch is gone :)

In you day you've done what is taking me forever hahah experience is key.

different note, I'm trying to rewire my 82' gs650l and I for some reason can't load the wiring diagram from bike cliffs website. Can anyone post a picture of it for me or post an accessible link?

Nah, it took 3 days... The first one took all winter, it gets easier once you have that first one under your belt...
Many of those diagrams no longer work. If you download the complete manual for the GS650G the diagram is near the end and should be close enough. Not much difference in the L from the G

Thanks, And I believe it. I spent about 2 hours on my valves the other day and now I can probably get a whim out in 30 seconds or less.

Shimmed my fairing to cut down on vibrations. I was seeing some gas overflow on a carb after a certain amount of riding. I'm looking into the float area. On some floats the flat tab on the float body that goes against the needle valve seems to not be parallel with the rest of the float area around it. I'm thinking I need to put it even and reset my float height.

Went for my morning ride with my coffee guys and when we left the coffee shop my back tire was flat. Got to a local station, used a plug to repair the small hole from the industrial staple we found, filled her with air and off we went. Stopped at another little cafe and there the tire went flat again. Discovered at that time that the tubeless tire had a tube, and the plug did nothing. Used a buddys on board compressor to inflate the tire and carefully rode her home. One buddy helped me to change the tube and I thought that was that. I went for a short ride and everything seemed fine. Then my buddy called and said we forgot to check the tire for the sharp end of the plug sticking into the tube, so we needed to take the wheel off and remove the tire...again. We found the tiny spike and removed it, reinstalled the tire and that was that. By then it was about 8 and the day was gone.

Such is life, but it sucked today. :-#

Built a custom harness for the rear license plate lights and cafe seat tail-light. I know the LED license plate lights/signals are not very retro, but I commute and it puts a lot of light on the back of my ride with not a lot of load on the electrical system. I looped a zip tie around the rear brake switch as it has the tendency to slip off of its mount on occasion. Peace of mind is good. I have a different impedance flasher relay that works with my LED signals. The last time I had it at the shop, they plugged it back in backwards. I flipped the contacts and, yay, flash. My left turn contact inside my switch-gear is iffy though. Considering whether I want to upgrade controls or repair. Re-secured my battery tray against the bottom of the seat. Did the usual oil/air/lube/lights check. All is well.

Pulled off my seat, tank, sprocket cover, and clutch cable. Cleaned out the clutch cable return mechanism and all the crud that flung up in there. Oiled the cable again and made sure it was routed correctly. Clutch stickiness is gone; it is smooth like butter. That made my ride today very pleasant.

Not today, but yesterday new ignition parts and a Gel battery has arrived. New spark plugs and -caps installed, and charged the battery. Will be mounted later today, hope that resolves my ignition issues.

Got rid of the very unsatisfactory DIY swivel hitch on the box trailer and put on an extension to the trailer main spar with a conventional coupling bolted in place. It's now closer to the 1.75 axle/hitch ratio. Waiting to pick up suitable parts tomorrow to make a pair of safety chains - may as well do it right.

Got her legal... God the DMV is a nightmare.... They wanted to VIN check it today with an in state sale purchase on a 35 year old machine... WTF. Nearly 2 hours they made me wait. It's legal though.
